Ok, so when in 4H with sway bar disconnected and switch to 4L the sway bar reconnects and I get service 4wd with the sway bar light blinking.(above gas gauge) If I switch back to 4H and shut the jeep off then restart lights are gone and I can disconnect again, has anyone had this happen?

With the sway bar connected, can you shift through 4H to N and then to 4L and then engage the sway bar disconnect with no service lights?

I know there is some methodology that if you have the sway bar disconnected in 4H and pause to long in N, before going into 4L, it will reconnect the sway bar.

It happens regardless of how I get to 4L

Maybe I worded it weird.............With sway bar connected, can you go into 4L and disconnect sway bar with no warning lights and have normal operation?

Was there any time or multiple times the sway bar electrical connection at the disconnect gear box, been under water/mud?

Does the transfer case gear select indicator on the LH side of the cluster show it in the correct 4H - N - 4L when selected?

It has never been under water and never had mud packed under the bumper

It appears to be normal, shows the selected 4H N 4L everything looks and feels normal but the sway bar lights blinks with the 4service light when in 4L

Yeah, I got nothing but stabbing guesses. Would need to hook up a scan tool and see what PIDS are there for the transfer case selector input switch and transfer case position sensor are putting in/out of drive train control module.

I think the sway bar stuff is just a default safe state reaction to whatever is going on with the transfer case.

Here’s another thought and observation on my own sway bar disconnect (21 JTR), this last summer I was poking around under the front end, had the skid plate off and was looking at the sway bar disconnect box and was just noticing the wiring harness and connector and was thinking about the times I knew it had been under water so I took that connector apart, cleaned it with DeoxIT D5 …then recalled other had previously said ā€˜you can’t service the gear box’ etc, but there’s bolts holding the box together and if there’s bolts, that must mean it can come apart.

I had no reason to pull it apart and see or to even clean it out and ā€œgreaseā€ something but I thought ā€œwhat’s the worst that could happenā€, I just might tell those other people, ā€œthis can be servicedā€, so I took the part the wiring harness plugs into. (There’s two parts)

The first part or the casing the plug connects to is where a plunger works back and forth inside. It’s grease-able! I found that what small amount of grease that was on that pin at the factory had pushed off and the moving plunger was dry. So I greased it up and put it back together.

The sway bar disconnect/connect operation was so much faster than before. I did not go into the gear box but there’s 3 bolts holding that box together and I may just go in there this summer.

I would do this if you don’t have warranty.

I will have to check on this, thank you for letting me know.
