Yeah thanks, I totally didn't even think about the regear to go with those tires. In addition to all that, 37 and up really should be a regear as well... 37's really need 4.56-4.88, and the 38's will need 4.88-5.13.
With the tire and wheel size combo you're thinking about, I can guess that the only offroading that you plan to ever see is your front lawn (when washing the Jeep), the amount of flex you'll see in the parking lot at the mall will probably never compress the stock shocks to matter...
@90victorhugo You could literally "get by" without doing a regear on 37/38. With the factory 4.10 gears on the Rubicons, it's passable. I have not regeared for my 37's yet. I had a plan to go up to 4.88's but I found it just wasn't awful. I mean I don't see 8th gear on the highway unless I'm going down hill with a tail wind...lol.
But Artsy is right, you would really want to plan for a regear if you want to have any hope at decent fuel economy (which sucks on lifted vehicles with big heavy wheel/tire combinations anyways). The higher you lift it, the more wind gets caught underneath it at speed and really makes it harder to drive on the highways....
