So I’ve actually made a few sustained runs at 80mph, the most recent one being 3 hours down and 3 hours back in one day. I did make it a point to feel my rear diff cover when I got home and although it was moderately hot, I could hold my hand to it without feeling like I was going to burn anything. My Dana diff covers do have the cooling fins, which I believe work as intended. I’ve had my gears now for 6k miles with zero issues. During the last trip my oil, tranny, and coolant were all in the normal ranges 195-205 degrees and the truck ran great. It was 95 degrees outside, I had my cruise set to 81 mph and had my AC going the entire time. I couldn’t be happier with my setup. I am planning a longer trip to Ouray in a few weeks and that will be a longer drive, 13 hours straight. If I can track down one of those digital infrared thermometers I’ll see if I can get some actual readings of my differentials throughout the trip. I hope this helps!
Thanks for your posts and updates. I have run Dana Spicer 5:13s with 37s for about 35K miles, and its been great with my manual tranny, but, I would go 5:38s now. I am on my second set of 37s and I am thinking of going to 39s next..... makes me really wish I went with 5:38s.

Still rocking the 5.13s? I’m contemplating 37s/5.13s for my 6-Speed, but I bet 5.38s would be better for a loaded down rig.

Yes, 70K miles now, I just got back from running The Rubicon Trail yesterday (for the second time). 5:13s were perfect for the 37 inch Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T. For the Rubicon Trail, I was in 1st Gear 4WL the whole time with the clutch out, Flipping the lockers on and off when needed. Even though for 37 inch tires, the 5:13s are perfect, I would still have rather run the tough Rubicon trail with 5:38s this time because I could have gone even slower.. I went with a group of 15 Gladiators, and many of them were running 40 inch tires. They scraped less than me, but, i have RSE armored steps and Control Arm Skids, Shock skids, Diff skids, Engine & Transfer case skids. The trail was harder than last time i ran it 2 years ago, and I needed all those skids. If I go to 39 or 40 inch tires later, I will want 5:38s. I ran the Rubicon Trail with a full bed of gear and a tonneau cover, and a loaded back seat.
