I fully discount it.

I will reiterate again, the Hemi is never, ever coming to anything that didn't already get it. Ever.

My sources have confirmed :CWL:
Isn't it going to be easy to reconfigure the engine bay for the Hemi?

The easiest man, 30 pack of Busch Lights and a weekend and we'll get er done! This is Merrica hoss, just slap er on in there. Totally gonna happen.

You have to tool up, couple dozen suppliers, couple dozen tools, few dozen check fixtures, all with 6-12 month lead times, before tariffs.

Then they have to get pilot parts, get approval, do Beta builds, get approvals, dozens of suppliers, dozens of parts.

Every supplier is going to want a bazillion dollars.

Supplier already exists? Yep, but they'll say, we're over capacity now, need capacity uplift..

A simple, basic, 1 part engineering change, for example, the map pocket on the back seat of the new Charger is going away... That 1 change, to 1 part, has 4 suppliers with tools, materials, etc... Will take no less than 6 months to accomplish.

I know Jeep just shits out 392's at will, which isn't the thread, the 5.7 is, but the truth is, nothing is shit out, and a major change, pushed with no budget limit, would take 18 months, minimum. Much easier to stomach to land the 392 Wrangler in the middle of the life cycle.

Adding a 5.7 to a Gladiator, or any STLA Large chassis not designed for it, is not going to happen, period. The Gladiator has 2 model years left, 26 is literally in changeover now, and 24's are unsold on the lots.

I was wondering about a V8 last month when we were out west and my thinking was that I would love a V-8 with a little more torque and HP but not necessarily as much as the 5.7 produces.

So then I started thinking what if Stelantis “just” added 2 more cylinders to the V-6. It would be a displacement of 4.8 L and probably be perfect for my needs.

My other thought was could the PUG engine be made stronger with better internals to allow turbocharging, similar to what Toyota is now offering…

If I were only King for a day…

What about a little V8? 😁

I had a 4.7L V8 in a TJ and that thing was fun to drive.
I had a 4.7 in a Grand Cherokee WJ I bought for my son. Nice power. I always thought that would have been a great engine for my JK.

That said, I don´t think it really had anything on the Pentastar. Maybe a small torque advantage, but the Pentastar was a better match.

Pentastar was the replacement for the 4.7 V8. Had a 4.7 in my then owned 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. Was fine for its time but basically was lower powered than the current Pentastar. I know later "H.O." versions of the 4.7 pushed 265HP-310HP but it was running out of tricks to go beyond that.

The 4.7 in my TJ came from a WJ I had.

At the time, it was a nice upgrade over the 4.0 I6. The 4.7 made more torque at 1,200 RPM than the 4.0 did at its peak.

I'm sure it will happen for the 2026 model year. They have plenty of 6.4 so this will probably go in first just like the 392 Wrangler and then 5.7 to be introduced to follow. Pricing... yeah that's gonna be key. I mean it really is just a couple grand upgrade for the 1500 so who knows...

So by that theory - the V8 Wrangler should only be 70K

The Ram already had the V8 option going way back. It didn't make much change to their CAFE numbers with the Ram truck.

It would be nice if they refined the 3.6 V6 or upgrade it and add some more torque because it has enough HP IMHO. Considering that they are looking to re-introducing the V6 in everything again i believe it would be worthwhile investment. For me i would be happy with a power output of 315/330hp & 320/380tq with alot of being made in the low end. 4:56/4:88 factory gears and i would be more then happy. With or without the e-torque helper.

Won't happen as a stand-alone engine. This is the scuttle if you can believe it - (and it makes perfect sense, IMO)

Stellantis has not ditched the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 outright, and you can still buy a range of vehicles with this reliable, efficient, and long-lived unit. However, persistent rumors suggest that the company is phasing it out, even though it was once the go-to engine for almost every FCA product that didn't use a HEMI. Sadly, it certainly doesn't have that dominance today, and in recent years, Stellantis has chosen more modern options like the 2.0-liter GMET 4 turbocharged inline-four or the Hurricane inline-six. Meanwhile, halo vehicles like the Grand Cherokee feature plug-in hybrid power or turbo four-cylinder options instead of the V6.

Apparently, the Pentastar will remain in the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger but may feature as a generator for the hybrid battery rather than a traditional drive engine. The Pentastar was never as famous as the HEMI, but it was, rather, the silent workhorse in the Stellantis fleet, and if it does disappear altogether, it may become another victim of the push toward electrification.

I've heard this at my dealership, as well. Except for DI and perhaps a turbo, there's really little that can be done to it from here. It's already at the bleeding edge and people are griping about the VVL system and so on - the VVL is one reason it still exists as an engine choice.

Adding to it: up until recently "the toward electrification" ate up a massive chunk of R&D money that **might** have gone into boosting the Pentastar's numbers. BEVs especially since in most cases legacy platforms would not work. But your point is absolutely spot on- it's the workhorse. Don't mess with a good thing.

That aside, I think people forget that God's own straight six, the 4.0L was used in evolving forms for over 40 years. Beyond nostalgia for an inline 6 in a Jeep, I think the Hurricane would have been a great addition to the platform. Since the marketing department called non-Hemi's a Hemi they could call a Jeep with a boosted I6 a Six Pack.

No offense to the triple pumper 440s out there.
