Installing various stuff on the new ride, I noticed the wheelwells all have significant openings to engine compartment (front) or under the bed (rear) as seen in the pics. It seems that the better these are sealed would be better for general durability, cleanliness, etc.. especially engine compartment spray.
Has anyone sealed off these areas somehow, any tips? TIA

You’re wide open to everything from the bottom, so a little extra splash from the wheel wells won’t change too much. Just keep things clean between journeys, and avoid letting mud, sand or salt build up. Enjoy.

LOL.

No. Even if you get different inner fender liners that extend below the frame, anything youre going through is coming up directly from underneath regardless.

yeeeaaah, now I see. Sorry for the silly question, first-time Jeep owner here. I'm conditioned that newer vehicles have more/better engine compartment sealing, but that is definitely not the case here lol. Might need to setup a quick-access pressure washer system instead...

air flow will also help dissipate heat away form the engine as well. Just a thought.

No worries. Enjoy the rig. These things are awesome, and your Michigan neighborhood has plenty of nearby places to get some good dirt in there :like:

There are roller washer systems that have a long metal pole attached that you can roll underneath the truck. They work wonders (as long as it is not caked on mud that sat for a week) lol. That is a very good investment if you want to keep salt/grime and things of that nature out from the undercarriage.

Buy lots of simple green to clean the engine. Otherwise enjoy the dirt and the stories that come from the mud under your hood.

Check out your local hardware store for a ‘Gutter Wand’. They are about 3’ long J shaped hose wand for spraying out gutters. They do a great job under the truck and you don’t have to bend down or lay in the puddles to spray off the underside.

I use an oscillating lawn sprinkler under the Jeep. Park over it with the hose coming out the far end turn it on, then pull the hose a couple of feet every 10 minutes. I do one cycle on the left side, another on the right.
