Adding factory Aux switches

So my Rubicon didn't come with the aux switches and I want to add them. Is the wiring there or is it a toss up from truck to truck? What am I looking for and where?

Wiring not there - you have to order the full kit. You can't just buy the switches and install them.
Do a search - this has been covered many times, and there are how-to threads with some decent detail.
In any case, buy the kit, not the switches alone. There's no wiring there.
Do a search for aux switch install or kit and so on - tons of info here, including how to run the wires and how not to, and the number of bandages required.

Adding the AUX switches to a Jeep that was not equipped with them from the factory will also require a Vehicle Reconfigure process to be performed. This basically tells the various electronic control modules that the AUX switches are present, but they do not operate unless this is done. I have installed the switches using the Mopar kit, and so I used my WiTech scan tool after having the parts department add the code for the switches. It may be possible to reconfigure or just add "AUX switches present" using an aftermarket scan tool, but I don't know for sure.

Ya know, yall won't believe this but I did search both the install and the existing wire questions and found nothing. I also physically scrolled though the respective subforums looking for a post that would lead me there. I figured something so coveted would have been covered and was surprised when I couldn't find it. Maybe it was my keywords, maybe the forum just hates me. Either way, thanks for answering my questions.

The install of the kit is a bit of a pisser and the online videos will give you a false sense of confidence even if you are electrically inclined.

My 2 cents of advice having done it once myself, take extra care running the harness through the firewall boot on the passenger side. Clearance is not as neat as the instructions show it and run the risk of nicking or tearing a wire at the firewall grommet main harness. When you build up inside switch connector, make double sure you are getting the right pin/wire in the right slot the first time because extraction is next to impossible without a release tool.

You want to allot 3-4 hours for a unrushed comfortable pace to get it done.

I don't like to call it a flash - you flash nothing, you reconfigure.
Software (JSCAN, AlfaOBD) or tazer can do it, or a dealership if you talk really sweet to them and bribe them with fresh donuts or something and get your credit card out.

Don't buy that kit if you have a Rubicon. Buy the other one with silver bezel to match your locker switch trim

Yeah, that's the reason I traded my 20 for a 22.
Well, no, not really, but I did decide to order them from the factory while I was trading anyway.
I've done a lot of wiring and mods on it, but that one I felt was best done while ordering.

The install doesn't scare me at all. I've been crawling around in and under vehicles since the early 80's. I just couldn't find whether or not there was a provision for it in every truck or just the ones with the factory switches. Honestly, it's really not worth the trouble to buy the kit and have to do all of that when the aftermarket world has simplified the install, offers comparable quality and more options. Both the Voswitch and the Lasfit kits are plug and play for less money. The Lasfit with OEM appearance and the Voswitch with more buttons.

If the wiring was already there, I'd buy the factory stuff.

I wanted the software control - the ability to program each switch independently, to say make switch one latching and battery source, make switch 2 momentary, make switch 3 latching and remember last position and ignition source and so on. No other switch setup does that, so it was MOPAR for me. Total control over each individual switch and changeable via radio menu settings. Integrated fusing helps as well, no extra stuff anywhere. My truck's engine bay is already full of electrical things and will likely get worse with time. I like clean.

The Aux Switch install is equivalent to pushing a baseball thru a 1/2" hole. Technique is everything. I botched my pins on my JLU Rubicon. Written illustrations were poor at the time. This particular install was most aggravating of anything.
I do have 12 years of advance automotive electrical engineering experience and have countless installs under my belt.
Review several install videos and do get the proper trim part number.

I believe you. The search function on this forum is a bit of a mystery as to how it works.

For the future I recommend just going to google and typing in "________ gladiator forum"

By doing that I've had much better luck finding whatever I was looking for.
