Great looking JT370.. Can't wait to get mine.

I know when driving a jeep on 37s MPG is not a priority but wonder what you are seeing for fuel efficiency with the current mods. (I'll be doing a very similar build with mine)

Also, do you have a instagram?
You will love it with 37s! Lots of variability on mpg, but if I keep my foot out of it 17-18 around town and low to mid 20s on the highway. I am sure it can do a little better if it wasnt fun to give it a little kick when taking off. Not sure if the 4.56s are helping or hurting. Might get better hwy mileage with stock gears.

You can join my tens of followers at pjzla! Dont post too much, but a few pics from Costa Rica trip last week.

Thank you for the response. What has your experience been with driveability, reliability and service ability with the AEV package?

I guess that could be 3 separate questions but they are all kind of related.

Its been good. Had a JKU before and it was mostly all AEV but built in stages rather than the Big Bang package.

No issues mechanically. Never drove it stock and dont have a pre post reference point. Drives very well. Have had one minor issue with the diesel unrelated to anything to do with the AEV package. Service is standard jeep service.

Did have a problem with the tailgate decal. It was coming off on delivery. They said there was an issue with a batch of decals and we waited until the new ones were out before they shipped it. Turned into a hassle since the dealer doesn't do that type of work. Had to go to a car wrap place to get it fixed and they reimbursed me. Found the warranty process slow and non responsive. All on me to follow up and chase them down. Guessing if it was mechanical the dealer would handle it and all would have been easier. It was just cosmetic, but for as much as they charge I expected a little more Ritz Carlton and got Motel 6.

How do you like the LOD sliders? Any issues with them flexing under load? These are at the top of my slider list.

Loving the LOD sliders but no serious trails since installing them. Next month going to get out for a couple trips and will put them under a little pressure. The step has been a nice bonus my old back appreciates. The other sliders didn’t have any drop down.

Added a Rhino Rack platform to the RSI smart cap today. Noticed that Front Runner and Rhino Rack show a rack the size of the cap as the fitment but wanted something that went over the cab a little. Was looking on CL for a used one. Last one I looked at was a literal POS and was $500. Ended up getting a scratch and dent used on Amazon for $479, about 1/2 price from new. Had to order feet as well, but got those on the used Amazon listing as well for $167. Both looked new when received and there was only one 2" scratch on the platform - zapped it with a little flat black and good to go.

LOD Destroyer sliders installed - replaced Ironman 4x sliders.
The Ironmans were good. Took a beating on the trail and no issues other than dents in the lower tubing. Wanted something a little stronger and also with a step. The Destroyers are out and what I preferred over the LOD aluminum sliders.

Install was easy. Did it solo.

Added some Led lights to each step. Going to get one of those Hopkins diodes and set it up for both courtesy and running lights. Will update when I get that done.

Some tips:
  • There are eight mounting tabs with 2 carriage bolts on eachside. Used painters tape to hold each bolt in place.
  • Before mounting the slider used a large zip tie to hold the mounting tabs tight to the slider. Makes it easier to do by yourself with all the tabs and bolts already in the slider.
  • Jack stand on one end was a huge help.
  • Tilted the bottom of the slider to align the bottom bolts, started the nuts, then tilted it up to align the top bolts and start the nuts.
  • After starting the nuts cut off the zip ties.
  • Passenger side rear had to use a spacer - slider was too close to the body. Same with the Ironman sliders - much closer on the passenger side for my JT.
  • The optional self tapping bolt didnt work too well for me. Going to pull it out and put a nutsert in eventually. Its in there but started to strip before it was even tight.
  • I found getting the frame brackets tight before adding the slider was easier.
  • On the driver side had to loosen the body mount bolt as the washer was pinned too far inward and wouldn't allow the middle bracket up into the frame. No issue on the passenger side.

Did you have to get longer carriage bolts when you used the spacer on the passenger side?

looks like you would be better off with some 1/4" steel plate welded to a 2x2 tube that get bolted to the frame rail.

A hammer! The aluminum doesn’t cut it. I posted these up for the guys at Asfir 4x4 to take a look at. Sent them an email that it either needs to be steel or twice as thick aluminum.

It bolts to the transfer case factory skid and the frame next to the filter.

Mytruck is pretty heavy and a couple high centers on some rocks took their toll.

No complaints at all about the Asfir skids - I need a stronger solution for what the truck is subjected to. The oil pan skid has faired really well. Was trying to save a few pounds where I could.

Quick and easy project - added the Metalcloak rear end link reinforcement and end links. AEV has a drop down bracket that isn't beefy, but no issues with it yet. As noted by others on the forum the AEV end link rubber caps are already deteriorating after 2 years.

The Rockblokz bracket doesn't fit with the Metalcloack bracket. Will probably do some cutting and reshaping so that it matches the contour of the reinforcement bracket.

Thinking of adding a Hellwig sway bar at some point as well. Noticed that I mashed up one of the swaybar bushing brackets pretty good on the rocks.

Recent Big Bear trip with friends. Still a little snow left when we went. More rock smashing, but we only did Gold Mountain which is fairly easy. The Bronco needs a bit more clearance.

I did the same thing when I installed my AEV lift a couple weeks ago. Already had the MetalCloak reinforcement brackets and took them off initially to installed the AEV ones and end links. Did not like the setup and took off the AEV bracket and end links and went back to the MetalCloak ones and installed a set of end links out of the MOPAR 2" kit.
