Hey,
Going to start a thread on my new AEV JTR Diesel. Previous ride was a 2014 JKUR.

Going to use the term "build thread" loosely since it is starting out mostly built.
After building out the JK I wanted to start off with a big head start.

Live in SoCal and bought the truck in Kentucky from Dan Cummins Jeep. Will post on that process here to hopefully help some others.

Here it is below. Can't take better pictures than the ones from AEV so we will start with those (plus two that show it before being shipped to AEV)!

RSI Smartcap Evo installed day one.
Easy to assemble and install. I did get three friends to drop by and toss it on the JT.

Two tips:
1) I would go with a thicker strip than what they send for the low rail up against the cab. Probably fine.

2) The bed rail mounting clamps require you to remove the end cap. It was tight getting past the mounting bolt heads inside the rail, but they did fit. They won't fit in the wide end opening without removing the end cap.

Update: added some white vinyl wrap on the roof. There is about a 10* difference between the covered area and uncovered in the direct sun. My wrapping skills are exceedingly poor. Thankfully almost no one can see the top

Day two install - Hot Heads headliner with sound assassin strips.
Had the Hot Heads liner in my JK and didn't hesitate to get it for the JT over the Mopar one.
Great product and amazing service from @Hothead Headliners !

Installed with the top on. Not an issues with dust since the interior of the top was painted at AEV.

You do have to unbolt the top, tilt it back and wedge something in there to hold it up and allow access. Easy one person job.

What was the price of the AEV package and were the seats and dash included or add-ons? How much customization was available for the dash and seats?

I’d love to do something similar, but with more of distressed brindle leather for the seats and matching dash. Maybe a Folsom-style canvas insert on the seats.

AEV is fixed pricing like Apple. No discount from what you see on the web builder, but I did order in December and prices went up a bit in January so I saved a few bucks.

They have some nice leather options but nothing other than black. I went with the tan leather option from Jeep to get that lighter color. The headrests are part of the standard package. Dash paint and interior roof paint were options. I think there are some guys on here who used Katskin leather and they have some nice color options.

Stoked you got your wheels! AEV gear looks solid The color matched dash is rad. Also those rims are some of the best looking around. Lemme know when you are ready to hit a trail I'm always down to wheel. Don't remember asking but what are your plans? Are you thinking of getting any overlanding gear?

Thanks @bakobobby! I have too much stuff from my JK. Rooftop tent and tons of gear so pretty set to go. Will let you know when I am going to head out your way.

Was able to get a short trail ride in while in San Diego. Nothing but dirt road, but still a good start to the shakedown.

Congrats, you will love it when it is done!! Shocks are great. Had the Teraflex Falcons on my JK and these feel way better. Limited use so far, but did well on some washboard and big ruts this week. No true test as of yet.

Testing out some storage on the Smartcap. Used the rivets in the ceiling with eyebolts to hang the traction boards. Used the molle panel to hold a kinetic strap and soft shackles. The gas struts are really strong - guessing you can put some weight on there before it slows the door opening.

Added the Wilco spare tire mount in the bed plus a shovel up top with some quick fists.
Only planning to keep the tire in there when going off roading. Back underneath the rest of the time.

Fortunate to live a few miles from Front Runner. Dropped in last week to get a set of cross bars. They are beefy and wide. Realtively easy to install. Did have a small issue with one of the track anchors - the bolt spun as soon as the locking nut got snug. Tack welded it back in place and all good. Will let them know next time I go in. Would have been a real pain for someone who didn't have a welder handy to repair it.

FYI - you have to talk with them about what canopy you have. The RSI track is narrower than the standard and takes different feet.

Thanks for posting. I’m just about to pull the trigger on these. Do you know if the slots on the crossbars accept Thule or Yakima accessories? If not, I’ll give them a call tomorrow.

Not sure. I had all Rhino Rack stuff on the JK and it doesn't work with these bars. I did measure the mounting bolts that slide in the slot of the cross bar so I could go get some Home Depot. Below are the measurement pics.

Man, the dark saddle leather was the right choice with Sarge....and the Savegre II wheels - absolutely beautiful truck!
