Guess I need to call my dealer. Just realized it has been about a month and thats how long they said the parts would take. Steering on the JT seems to be getting worse with time. I didn't think it was a problem then was driving my van after the TSB and realized how something should steer. I then hoped in my Dad's JK and noticed immediately that mine was for sure messed up.

With the steering the way it is and the colder weather and the steering the way it is I am pretty much paying for a car that I am not touching except for warm days or truck senarios. I just flat out don't feel comfortable with how lose it is. Worth dealing with for a short drive on a warm day, but it doesn't go anywhere it needs to go above 55.

Dont forget 90% of you never drove solid axle rigs in yr life much less a jeep. heard about this steering problem via internet and just think you gotta have the new box if you actually need it or not. I honestly dont blame them.
I'm driving my 6th solid axle Jeep and honestly didn't think there was anything wrong with my Gladiator's steering outside of the "Jeep thing" however, I am at 30,000 miles on mine and figured if the dealership would replace a part for free, I would get a new part...I would love to drive someone's "death trap" Gladiator to see if they are experiencing something drastically different than what I did. Mine is still on my stock Rubi suspension with 35's...it is definitely tighter with the new box (more like my JKR) but it still drives like a truck or at least what trucks used to drive like. My 2015 Ram 1500 drove like a Caddy

that stinks, I finally got our vehicle in for the first oil change and to have the TSB checked. It was approved and they said the part should arrive in December. Guess we'll see.

I keep tire PSI at 37 as per the door sticker. I complained about the wondering from day one. Sales person thought it might be alignment. Anyways, guess I'll see what happens in December.
37 is high! I'm running 33 in my 35" Patagonia's and like it much better than 37 psi...just my opinion. Tread wear is fine at 33 psi (30,000 miles on the tires) and it's a softer ride for sure.

Yep, 32/33 on my 35" KO2's. Bouncy as Hell after the oil change/rotation/overinflated tires at 37 PSI.

Used a Rhino deflator, reminded me how much faster Speedflate is, but that was at home.

(using your quote as an example only -)

People don't understand that as a "general rule" (not hard and fast, but works "if all else is the SAME") in that if tires like for example the stock Overland tires are good at 38 psi, and they are a 32.2" diameter tire, not really wide, that when you put tires on that are wider and taller, they'll have a bigger "foot print" - in other words, more surface on the road.
So you need lower PSI to carry the same truck weight.
It's the psi (pressure PER SQUARE INCH) that's applied to the square inches on the road that support the truck. More square inches on the road, lower psi required to carry the same weight.
I run my stock tires at 38 like the sticker says and it's great! Good ride, good handling and the wear is fine. I run the Rubicon take-offs, the Falken A/T tires which are a bit wider and a bit taller (32.8" diameter vs. 32.2" diameter stock Overland) at 36 psi and it's fine - good ride, good handling, even wear.
If you go wider and/or taller you'd run less than that so it makes total sense that a 35" tire that is likely a bit wider than those I run, would be happy at a psi lower than 36.

In short, the executive summary - I would guess without doing the math and not knowing the weight of your truck that your 33 is about right.

GENERALLY - Your door sticker psi goes out the door if the tires you put on the truck are taller and wider than stock.

Someone needs to take their chill pill comment, bend over and put it where the sun doesn't shine! No need in those type comments, just like the one I just made. :lipssealed:

This email I just got from customer care unprompted does not align with what OP was told...

I've been waiting for ~6wks at this point, and was told there was no ETA. I was actually going to check in today after seeing this thread, but then this email showed up in my inbox.

Yeah, mine was prioritized 2 months ago ... Before I was given a specific date of arrival 5 SEPARATE TIMES several weeks apart ... Each time missed and a nice email sent stating almost the exact same thing you have referenced here ...

That email is from Jeep Cares ... And they tell you what they are being told ... Which up until now has been comprised of pixie dust and unicorn farts ...

Until I see a steering box with the CORRECT PART NUMBER with my own eyes in the hands of a mechanic standing under my truck, Ill treat correspondence from Jeep Cares as the fiction that it has been thus far ...

This sounds logical, actually. No inventory available, etc. - makes one wonder why the dealerships just toss out stuff to shut folks up instead of actually trying to find out and letting the customer know the truth.
I don't mind waiting on stuff - IF I know the reason and I get a status report somewhere in between.
I don't mind them saying "I'll look into it" if they really do - and then tell me the truth, but these brush-offs, that's bs.
I was lucky in the grand scheme of things on this, but my dealer DID contact me even if just to say "no change, parts expected x/x/x" - the service writer guy actually worked with parts department to keep me aprised - and I didn't even bug him about it. We were only talking a week delay but still he texted me 3 times in that week to let me know the status! Now THAT's service!

The reason the make dealers order by vin is because some of the larger dealerships will order more than they need to have several in stock. That keeps some dealers that need them from getting them.

I took my 2020 in last week for the misfire issue and mentioned the steering, they had a tech check it out and told me they would order the new steering gear. They said it would take 4-6 weeks, got a call on monday that the part came in and dropped it off today. Not sure how my dealer got a part so fast when people have been waiting.

Dropped off my 2020 JTR at dealer this morning, Palmer DCJR in Roswell, GA. Less than 150 miles on the odometer, purchased 9/2020 with a build date of 10/2019. I was told the parts are ordered with no ETA however I know there are several ahead of me from a previous conversation I had with the service manager. He also said they are limited in how many they can order. About to go pick it up.

Palmer DCJR has been excellent in all aspects from sales to service - highly recommend. I've bought a 2011 JKU and 2014 JKU from them. No reason to doubt what they are telling me. I guess it's a waiting game now.

There was a similar delay with the passenger airbag replacement on my 2014 JKU. Almost a year after being on a waiting list, FCA contacted me to make an appointment and told me where to take it for the replacement (different local dealer, not sure why).

Yes ...

Yes

They are doing the right thing and have tried 3 times to order the part ... They cant get one although they keep getting dates like I am ... And on that date the part does not show up ... Or they get a new date ...

The most recent folly is this announcement that all orders are cancelled ...

The dealer did screw up ... Royally ...

But it is FCA who is standing in the way of them making it right ...
IMHO, if the dealer was the one who screwed up, be mad at them not at Jeep. I'd be telling them to yank a black box off one of the JTs that are probably sitting on their lot waiting to be purchased and they can put your replacement one on that one when it finally shows up.

I wouldn't push for this under normal circumstances, but it seems appropriate in this case.
