which speakers can you add the poly fill to ? Do you buy it in bulk and just stuff in as much as you can ? Are the speakers that are able to have the poly fill behind them open or closed (are they contained to hold the poly) ?... thanks
I did the sound bar. Removed the grate and larger speaker. Didn’t need to unplug it. Bought a small bag of poly fil and just stuffed it around where the speaker sits. You can find you tube videos that will show you.

My one year old willys speakers sound like crap! Have the alpine speaker upgrade and was never impressed. Soon after the sound bar speakers started to have a fuzzy noise with sports radio and now I have to have the bass almost off or it sounds like my high school boom box with mega bass on! Anyone have this problem and/or what to upgrade the speakers too? Thanks
Mine have been solid aside from the dash speakers that I’m gonna upgrade with terra acoustics

So I had a 2020 with the alpine premium stereo. Sounded like garbage, I threw the factory sub away and installed a Punch P3 12 behind the rear passenger seat. Also did the MBquart 6x9 mod in the soundbar.
Picked up my 22 with premium alpine this week. Night and day difference. It is banging! Rattles all the mirrors, sounds good, etc. I don't know what they changed, but it is significant. I added 2 JL 10s via a stealthbox based on experience with my 2020. Had I known it would sound so much better than my 2020, I would have done nothing to the 22.

On day two I pulled the soundbar speakers and installed Poly-Fill. Also added a Mopar hardtop headliner. I am very satisfied with the sound quality now.
Pic or description of placement, amount, etc.?
I'm about to put the new speakers in mine (top of dash, and soundbar replacements - nothing fancy, just trying for better highs and less mud)

My wife is a quilter - I use her batting scraps to pack restored parts to ship back to customers. I have everything from pure cotton batting to 80/20 blend, the cheap polyfill as you guys generically call it, whatever.......... are we looking for fluff, sound absorption, or sound blocking?

I recall from the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook that there have been a lot of tests of different fill materials, and they're not all the same. IIRC fiberglass fill and chopped low-density foam has the greatest effect (making a given enclosure 'seem' larger than it is, and a desirable lowering of the resonant frequency), natural wool and cotton somewhere in the middle, and cheap polyester pillow fill the least effect.

Also different in sealed vs ported applications. Sealed, stuff away. Ported, overfilling can dampen the resonance too much and reduce transient punch (and you DEFINITELY don't want fiberglass in ported enclosures, you will eventually breathe it)

Little more complex than just grab some cheap pillow stuffing. Though you certainly won't hurt anything if you do

Sound absorption. I just got a bag of batted Poly-Fil from Walmart. $8.00, I think. I did not remove the upper or lower dash speakers. Those were left alone (and from what I hear the lowers are a pain to remove anyway). Upper dash speakers are just tweeters.

I did remove the Sound bar speakers and added the batted Poly-Fil in the cavity behind both speakers. R&R the grill screws and the speaker screws to remove. Don't stuff it tight though. Just a folded bat (maybe 12" x 12") to soak up the resonance that loves to live in those crevices. Very similar to home audio speakers. Took a total of about 20 minutes. Didn't take pics but was a very easy modification that did seem make a difference. As I stated earlier in the thread, the real difference came after I installed the Mopar headliner to help prevent the sound from bouncing around the cab. I have cloth seats as well.

For a stock (premium) sound system inside a literal square box with lots of fiberglass (and glass), I am pretty satisfied! ;)

I have all of the batting and fill anyone could ask for. I pack parts with it. When my wife quilts or makes some other project, she saves scraps and left-overs for me. I have a garbage bag half full. All I need to do is reach into the bag and pull out what I want LOL - my wife keeps asking if I need more - uh, no, I'm good for the next 6 months.

Anyway, the top dash speakers aren't tweeters - not by my definition. They are pretty big for tweeters and don't put out squat for highs. The ones I had in the dash of my 2020 (and then pulled back out when I traded) are coaxial speakers - midrange and small tweeter (Infinity REF-3032cfx)
That's the problem with the stock dash speaker - mud, no highs. Get music with some really high stuff and it can't reproduce it. There's nothing crisp about these.

I end up having to turn bass WAAY down and turn midrange and highs up, especially highs, as these systems just don't do a good job.

The system I put in my Comanche back in 1987/88 would blow these things away and then ask what more you wanted it to do. But then 500 watts between the 8" subs and the other 8 speakers (4 tweeters, four midrange speakers) might be the difference. These don't have the power to drive truly great speakers.

I do think the 2022 is better than the 2020 although I can't figure what they changed if anything, but it's still not a "premium" sound like my Chevy was or my wife's Grand Cherokee is.
These trucks need dedicated tweeters and bigger midrange speakers.

Agreed. I should have defined the upper dash speakers better. They are considered high frequency in my book but not tweeters by nature. Yes, I automatically turned the treble all the way up on day one, keeping my midrange two clicks down from flat and the bass three clicks above flat.

Sound is such a subjective area. I personally like positive clarity, lower mids and heavier bass. It comes from many decades of living with the sound of four large vintage JBL's from the early 70's.

As stated, although not as great as my 2020 Ram, I like the sound in this JT.
