I went for years but stopped going shortly after it got too big and Jonathan and Roseann sold it. Mormon Lake was not as good as Amado, just as the feel has changed since it moved to Ft. Tuthill. I exhibited with American Adventurist for several years before the event finally gave in to the corporate trade show it has become, sort of SEMA in the dirt.Anyone going to Overland Expo this weekend?
It's still a great event, but not the same as when all the vendors stayed on site and hosted after parties for the industry. Heck, we even had beer on tap in our booth a couple of years before they outlawed it. Snoverland Expo in 2015 when Mormon Lake turn into a mud pit was both the best and worst, I think. This poor Earthroamer needed three vehicles from the NAU off road club to help drag him out of the muck. In his defense, this was the designated camping area in a dry lake and he would not have camped or stayed there with the weather coming in but that's where were all directed. Once the snow came and then melted it was 6" of the slipperiest silt mud I've ever seen.
