Anyone going to Overland Expo this weekend?
I went for years but stopped going shortly after it got too big and Jonathan and Roseann sold it. Mormon Lake was not as good as Amado, just as the feel has changed since it moved to Ft. Tuthill. I exhibited with American Adventurist for several years before the event finally gave in to the corporate trade show it has become, sort of SEMA in the dirt.

It's still a great event, but not the same as when all the vendors stayed on site and hosted after parties for the industry. Heck, we even had beer on tap in our booth a couple of years before they outlawed it. Snoverland Expo in 2015 when Mormon Lake turn into a mud pit was both the best and worst, I think. This poor Earthroamer needed three vehicles from the NAU off road club to help drag him out of the muck. In his defense, this was the designated camping area in a dry lake and he would not have camped or stayed there with the weather coming in but that's where were all directed. Once the snow came and then melted it was 6" of the slipperiest silt mud I've ever seen.

Won't be there but I know there is going to be some new products and great rigs in the Alu-cab, OK4WD, and GP Factor booth. I'd check it out if you're going

We’ll be there today and tomorrow, camping for two nights, then heading back home.

My wife has never been there and wanted to go before we move out of the US … might even find someone interested in our Jeep …

We ended up being there for three nights since we met up with some friends and half the time we were just spending time with them ...

It was an interesting expo, seems I saw a few more interesting products that are along the lines of conserving nature and leaving a smaller ootprint, not just nature "using it until it's unusable". Still, way too much utterly stupid stuff, like "Earth Roamer" style rigs that are barely rugged enough to survive a badly paved California back road – and too big to go on one to begin with. Like who the f needs a granite countertop in a camper, that thing must weigh as much as our whole interior build-out? But okay, if people want to buy this to impress the neighbors, go for it. But stay the heck on pavement because nobody is ever going to recover one of these monstrosities.

In terms of vehicles, the Grenadier was very visible. Great vehicle, probably the only good offroader that has come to the market in the last decade (maybe apart from Jeeps). Bummer they didn't bring the diesel version over. Ah, wherever we move in the next year, they'll have the choice of diesel or petrol, might get one of these down the road. They are VERY comfortable and roomier than the Jeeps, so, could be interesting.

Overall, it was a good expo, I missed a few folks, but at least was able to chat a bit with the OK4WD folks, AJ from GP Factor, and some others I knew from before or where we use some of their products.

Unfortunately, we also missed the opportunity to advertise our Jeep. Weren't sure when and where we'd move. That got clarification today, so the Jeep will go within the next year. Bummer, we spent so much time and effort on it. New country, new build. We'll just have to see what it'll be.

I no longer have a Gladiator but I figured I'd pop in since this seems to be one of the few online forum threads relating to the Alucab campers.

I switched to a 2024 Ram Power Wagon about a year ago, sold my Jeep Gladiator + Go Fast bed camper. The plan was always to go Alu Cab and I found a few full size Canopy campers that were priced very attractively but decided to hold out for the Modcap.

What have lead times been like lately? I ordered mine (2 person tent version) back in early - mid March. Seems like Alucab orders can run all the way up to 3 months before they're installed

That timeline sounds about right. I did just see OK4WD and a few other dealers posting on IG that they had received a lot of campers on several trucks

How/where are people routing wire from the rear bumper area into the canopy camper? Currently all my wiring is entering the camper at the front using existing holes up high at the front of the bed... but I have some small gauge wire that I would like to bring in from near the rear bumper.

How about this question: does anyone know which side and exactly where the 3rd brake light is typically tapped into the OEM brake lights?

The finish on the top of my canopy camper has faded, so I painted it with POR-15 Top Coat using a mini roller. I followed the directions by using their degreaser and metal prep first, then rolled on 2 coats of Safety Orange. Masked the edges using Frog Tape High Adhesion. I'm happy with the result!

Trying to find the black connector that is used by Goosegear in their cabinets for the drawers, its on the ends of the horozional bar under the top drawer. Its used to attach the bar to the vertical. I didn't see them on 80/20 site. Any ideas?
