I think with so many options we just really dont know and error on the side of caution when telling customers what fits and what doesnt. This is a great conversation!
Thanks for chiming in. I don't expect y'all to have all the answers, but it was worth asking. You don't R&D all these products so it's fair that you can't say for sure which can mix and match from different manufacturers. I appreciate the customer support, nonetheless. I will continue to buy parts from Northridge 4x4. I ordered a bumper on Saturday at 8 pm and it's scheduled to arrive at my door tomorrow. 😲

I like fancy stuff.
I figured that, and an entirely valid reason to do things, because you want to.

But what you're looking for here is affirmation that it's the right thing, smart thing, and a sound investment, not any type of dissent, so I'll just show myself out.

You can hang around. I ain't mad at you... I just like joking around. Dry humor is a tough sell across a message board sometimes. But I do like fancy stuff. 😄

FWIW, there are a couple of reasons I wanna add this pan:

1. Potential extra cooling capacity since the diesel platform has a reputation for needing some improvement there.

2. Because if I'm gonna drop the pan to change the fluid why not upgrade?

Now to the reason I wanna change the fluid in the first place... and this might start us down a rabbit hole that's not the point of this thread, but here we go:

I noticed a slight quirk with the transmission when it's dead cold. During the first couple of minutes of driving I go up a small hill out of my neighborhood. If I'm only giving it slight accelerator pedal the trans seems to feel a little slippy/loose when shifting from 2-3 and 3-4. After about 5 mins of driving it completely stops this behavior, once warmed up a little bit. It also does not have this behavior if I simply give it more accelerator pedal going up the hill. Shifts perfectly fine. I wanna emphasize that this is a very slight quirk that's almost not noticeable. It took me days, if not weeks, of repeating the same driving habits before I noticed it. I just want to change the fluid and see if this quirk resolves. I bought the truck less than a month ago and changing all the fluids makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I started a chat online from the website with a rep. I don’t currently have any skids, but I’m wanting to add the PPE deep transmission pan. Just trying to figure out if that pan will create a clearance problem for adding skids.
@WILDHOBO Is running one think He likes it .

I have a JTR with the diesel and the transmission is consistently in the 180 to 190 degree range, even dragging my JKR across Texas in the summer. I don’t think trans heat is a problem, oil on the other hand 🤦‍♂️.

Good to know. I went out and measured the clearance from the stock transmission pan to top of the stock crossmember and it's 2 3/8" at best. I'm assuming most skid plates would be located the same as the top of this stock crossmember.

Installed about two weeks ago..I didn’t go with the deep pan so mine just added 1qt extra. So far so good. Keeps temps around d 190 running on interstate
Didn't know they had two options. Thanks. I bet this would clear a skid plate. Looks like it doesn't sit as low as the top of that crossmember.
i got mi e thru extreme terrain and they have deep which is the 2.5 extra, I went with the lesser option..also a few bucks less

The stock pan has its lowest point at the rear of the pan, but that PPE pan is built differently. Still curious if the forward section branded “PPE” would hang as low as the top of that stock crossmember.

Here is the stock pan. Hard to take pics under there.

Did you re-use the gasket or source a new one?
