1/2 marathon in Rome Georgia this weekend. I am 90+% a treadmill runner on Landice L8. 2 marathons. Been running a half marathon every weekend for past 4 months on my treadmill. Relaxing. Started running 5 years ago at 45. Saved my knees for later in life.

Man I envy a person who can spend that much time on a treadmill. 3 miles worth and I'm about to go crazy but that's freakin awesome though.

I've been a runner for almost 40 years now. Lots of marathons (I've done the Marine Corps Marathon 32 times) and ultramarathons (including the Western States 100). At 68 years old, I'm not nearly as fast as I used to be (when I could run sub-3:00 marathons and 1:20 half marathons), but I'm still out there pounding the pavement. When I was younger, my running buddies and I would pass some old guy slogging along and we would say to one another, "I sure hope I can be out here when I'm that old". Now I'm the old guy that the younger people pass all the time :) !

Just curious how many JT owners are physically active. I'm a runner myself mainly but recently got into biking as well. Took a few months off to recover from a injury and am getting back at it now. Went from a 7:30-7:45 training pace to a 8:30-8:45 pace, it's been a struggle the past few weeks. Feel free to post up your activities you have done or did with pics.
Old thread, but looks like it's been revived!

Avid runner now, but ride here and there...road and mountain bike.
Current equipment:
Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next%
Cervelo Soloist
Santa Cruz Bronson

My friend group has forced me to use Strava...feel free to follow if you are into social tracking/training apps (Daniel Gundler).

I ran cross country and track back in high school. Fast forward many years later and my doctor tells me I'm 50 lbs over weight (6'1" tall"), have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and borderline diabetes. So, I decide to start running again and quickly drop the weight which helps with the rest of the issues.

After a few months of running, my brother joins me on my runs only to start to have heart issues (he never had any symptoms before and was cleared by his GP to run). While he was having his 2 heart surgeries to fix him up, I read an article about an 80 year old who ran every day for 20 years and show it to my brother. He says lets try it too. So, after the doctor clears him to run again, we started our journey. Granted, we set our minimum at only 3 miles a day, but when we have the time we do more. We also do a few 5Ks a year and usually place in our age groups.

Anyway, so far we are 18 years, 2 months and 18 days in. Snow, sleet, rain, hail, sun, 100 degree temps, bad back, sick with the flu, sore knees, on vacation, even having the shits ........ there no excuse to stop. Well.....we did agreed that if you are REALLY injured and have a signed doctors note in hand, you can skip for a day as a "medical waiver". But, even when my brother got run over by a car (while running) and broke his arm, I still made him run the next day because he forgot the doctors note from the hospital. :giggle:
So, we are 100% every day so far.

Funny thing is that I don't think we can stop at 20 years. Looks like our goal is now 25. :headbang:

I do adventure triathlons so; run, bike, and paddle. Still working on getting my gladiator capable of carrying an 18’ kayak. Here was my previous race day loadout...

Road cycling here. Knees don’t let me run very much any longer. Tons of hiking though.

Lime green/black bike is my daily Fav. I just cracked 10,000 miles on it. Need to dust off the MTBs ..... Haven’t done much on them in a while.

I run occasionally. Did the Leadville Heavy Half (15.5mi) Marathon a couple times, and the Austin Rattler 33k once.

Mostly I'm a mountain biker and gravel rider. I've done both the Leadville 100 and the Leadville 100 Stage Race 3 times each, half a Dirty Kanza 200 (50 miles without electrolytes due to an aid station screw up about killed me), and I've ridden Rebecca's Private Idaho every year since it's inception in 2013, including the Queen's Stage Race once that started up. in 2019 I rode Cool Hand Luke Gravel Grinder and The Epic in Missouri Gravel Grinder on back to back days. I also raced the Texas Cross Country series for a couple seasons back when I lived there.

Man, I miss doing DK! I was overseas for the past couple and I haven't been riding enough to go for it this year, but I want to get back into it next year. I know there are a lot of gravel rides here in Texas so I need to get on the ball and start signing up for them. Lately all I've done is runrunrun and it's starting to wear on my joints.

DK always falls on my Reserve (AF) weekend, so I've never really had a chance to go back. I have friends that do it every year though.

I never rode any gravel in Texas. I didn't really get into it unto I moved away.

Just went over 100 miles today for the month 101.4 with another week to go. First 100 mile month of the year for me. Done 11.62 miles yesterday at 7:57 pace and 5.56 today at 8:22 pace. 5 days of running this coming week, I should end up with over 130 for the month. Feeling good going into my 6th week of training.

I am sure he is talking about the human powered kind . I run occasionally now, exclusively trails and went back to mountain biking after a 1 ton duality decided I did not belong on the road. Have the Salsa for urban and gravel. Used to race triathlon and had way too many bikes. First pic is trail rash from clipping a tree at almost 20mph.

I feel your pain! After one of our road club riders was killed, his fault, don’t ride inside corner with a semi. Then another friend hit on country road (he survived) and the finale for me was a women pulling out directly in front of me and I went over the hood... she took off. Dislocated my distal clavicle and shoulder plus lots of road rash.

Also got sick of all the diesel kids unloading soot “coal rollers” on us when riding.

Only mountain bike now, and it’s my own damn fault if I hit a tree! ?

Thinking about a gravel bike.

Crazy work week got to ride Thursday and then last night started around 8:30pm with lights. Got my 29’er back and wanted to test rebuild on front fork. Crazy how good LED lights are!!! One on helmet and one in handle bar. Rode about 8.5 miles alone in the dark! Blacked out picture is with lights off!

Anybody night ride? What do you use?
