I don’t know why new models change the holes. I need to put more tie downs in bed, but I need to tap those holes first to clear them out
I'll let you know what Rugged Ridge's fix with new brackets and attachment features are to accommodate this change of hole dimensions. They are shipping overnight my parts so I can install tomorrow before my hunting trip

That’d be good, the other option I was thinking about while securing the web bungee over this weekend’s camping load, is D rings with a bolt tab kinda like these...

As of July, 2020, the lower hole is no longer threaded.
So says Truxedo.
I was able to get a 5/16" nut and bolt through the lower hole using a magnetic pick-up tool on the nut.
Truxedo will send out a hardware kit with a PEM-nut (riv-nut) type thing.

I'm glad I didn't need to figure out a way to handle my nut, or to go with a nut inset..

I used both holes on the driver's side for a radio antenna mount that I built. I taped a nut to my finger to get it on a bolt in the top hole. Awkward but it worked. I later installed a DV8 Chase Rack which uses the threaded bottom hole.

Well, they changed them on 2021 trucks. Tried to install my Rugged Ridge tonneau cover yesterday and neither hole is threaded anymore. Rugged Ridge is sending me new brackets and hardware to mount the cover. I'll know more tomorrow when I get the new hardware

I'm assuming you called the number on the instructions. I'm in the same boat. Except I have to call them on Monday since they're closed for the weekend.

Yup. see my post here as I installed the cover today. Ended up getting the brackets from RR on friday but didn't get any instructions. Got them from Xtang as they make the covers for RR i found out.
Pretty much a PITA to install another set of brackets between the cab and the bed

This is what Truxedo sent.
The top picture is what comes with the cover for the top hole. Looks like about an M5 or M6
The bottom picture is for the bottom hole. Appears to be an M8.
I think I'll leave the 5/16" hardware I put in...
