Its going into the shop next Friday but have a curious issue going on.

When the front doors are on the auto stop/start errors out saying its not available but as soon as the doors come off it works fine.

Have tried plugging the harness in a few times but just wont fix it.

read the manual on all of the reasons why it won’t work and you will have a much better understanding of it. Most likely because the climate control is off in that scenario I would guess.

Maybe its climate control I sure didnt think I had AC on when I started it at about 7 this morning and it errors out as soon as I started it, will try it without the AC on though thanks for the replies.

Bent pins in the door connectors will cause a number of issues that are not directly associated with the doors.
I was just about to post bent pins but you beat me to it. The harness for the front doors requires a certain "technique" to connect without bending the pins up or down. Depending on which pin gets fudged, you will get different errors.

I hate those connectors. If done exactly as the engineer envisioned, the connector joins and comes apart super smooth. I personally believe the engineer who came up with them has OCD and was smoking crack when he designed them, so no one else shares his vision.

It won’t work while the A/C is on.
BS - it absolutely DOES work with AC on. We had AC on today and it was 94 degrees with full sun. Once the cabin was cool, it stopped at almost every single stop I came to. A couple of times it restarted before we took off - but then sitting in full sun at 94, it needed the juices flowing again.
I don't get where the "it won't work with AC on" stuff comes from.

With AC on max, sure, it may not because max means the compressor runs constantly.

Why would climate control being off disable the ESS? More likely to ALLOW it because there's no call for the compressor to run or no call for heat from the engine coolant.

He said it worked with the doors off which is the scenario I was referring to

The auto start/stop DOES work with the A/C running. It depends how much load it demands from the system that determines if start/stop will engage.

Absolutely -- it was humid AF today. Used the auto start/stop function to cool it off a bit before jumping in it.

I seem to recall having the climate control working while doors were off........... it sure works with roof off.
In any case, why would climate control being off cause ESS to not function? Gotta be something else.

You're flipping his statement. He's saying you're more likely NOT to have climate control on with the doors off, so therefore it's more likely ESS engages in that scenario. Put the doors back on, more likely to use climate control, less likely ESS engages.

No, because unless you have AC on max, the ESS will still engage. Doesn't matter about "climate control" being on or not. Today was proof like I said before - it worked almost every stop I made save maybe for a couple stops made shortly after starting the truck after being inside shopping.

He says it works with doors off, not with doors on -
he never made a mention of climate control - further, it's a fact the ESS WILL work with climate control/AC on.
Only if it's on max will it simply not work.
So how would having "climate control" on make a difference? Unless it's on max AC?
IF the ESS is not engaging due to AC or heat - it will tell you that on the cluster. Scroll the display to the ESS page, it will tell you the reason.
