So looks like i might get a new job (great!) but i will be driving 35-40 miles each way so 75-80 miles each day.

So I also am a pretty die-hard motorcyclist and I ride whenever I can but I would still be 2-3 days a week commuting in the JT.

Am I the only one facing a drive like this?

Any thoughts?

Still debating the diesel/gas version for my 30 minute in the city commute.

I'll be using it to commute to my clients locations all over the state. Mostly all highway which is why I would prefer the diesel- but some of it is very off-road through all sorts of weather/terrain. I put on 45,000 miles/year.

Definitely daily driving, all my driving. It will eliminate my need for my little 6' trailer for running to the hardware store, it will still be comfortable enough for my 40 mile round trip commute each day. Strong enough to pull my 3500 lb trailer comfortably.

This will check off every box on my "what I want" list as well as my "what I need" list. I'm hopeful it'll be made well enough for this to be true for more than a decade.

Let me tell you everything you need to know about commuting in the JT. BTW you already know this stuff. It will not be the most fuel efficient option you could pick. It will not be the most comfortable option you could pick. It may be the most fun option you could pick depending on how you define fun driving. :jk:

I commute 20 miles each way in 2013 JKUR and love it. Not the most comfortable ride, but in the summer probably 80% of the time with no doors or roof makes it a lot of fun. In the winter I don't even look at the weather, snow, sleet whatever doesn't change my plans on going into the office.

This is me exactly, same drive length/time, same fun in the summer and lack of concern in the winter. The only downside is that I really never have an excuse to NOT go in to the office in the winter. The Wrangler is a fun vehicle first, you can then pay attention to MPG or comfort afterwards.

I’ll be in the daily driver crowd. I’m definitely waiting on a rubi Diesel. The longer I have to wait the more of a down payment I will have for it. So at this point, I’ll b looking to commute 20 miles each way daily. Maybe more if I transfer duty stations.

I will be using mine for daily commuting as well, not sure what engine I'm going to go with yet have to see the specs on the Diesel compared to the gas. Not going to spend more if the there isn't a significant difference. But either way should be a fun ride year round.

I will! I'm not too concerned about fuel mileage. My CJ only gets 9 mpg (though that is due to my crappy carb.) and my previous Rubicon was right at 14 mpg. I'll be looking at 45 miles roundtrip each day. I would like to get the diesel, but (probably) not being a manual trans option is a deal breaker for me - what the hell would I do with my right hand without a stick shift? it's all I've owned over the last 20 years.

I've had jobs where I've driven 50 miles each way = 100 miles a day. You just do it and don't think about it. That's why I never put much thought into my daily commuter vehicle. I keep my 2016 Challenger in the garage for the nice days and drive the 300 to work.
