I’ve been sitting on the snorkel since it was released and now after getting my JTRD back from the dealer for corrosion(they replaced everything but the bed and cab) I’m finally thinking about installing it.
Anyone regret doing it? I know I’ll prob need the upgraded intake section but was wondering if that was the only issue. Thanks

I have one and I also wanted the KC Light bar across the windshield. It was near impossible to have both. I eventually got it done but took some work. I don't regret my snorkel at all I barely think about it now. Looking back, the only thing I'd change is maybe getting the more traditional, cut-through-the-hood version. But I don't regret cleaner, cooler air to the engine.

I'm not aware of any 3.0 Diesel snorkel that isn't AEV which comes out of the hood? Which do you have or is it something custom?

And I'm in the same situation @LOGS I have one sitting in box, just waiting for me to install it.

Sorry about that. I didn't catch the "D" in "JTRD" at first. I've got the Rugged Ridge snorkel that replaces the cowl piece to enter the engine bay. So the only relevant comment I guess I can make is that I don't even notice my snorkel anymore. I had to do a lot of modifying to get the amfib snorkel to play nicely with the light bar and the light bar mount. (I had to shorten the snorkel stack 4" and remold the air box at the cowl) But because the AEV one you're using is off to the side more, The only complication I could see for you guys is an overhead light bar if you ever decided you want one.

I'm curious why you would have preferred the cut-through-the-hood version.

My brother who worked at a jeep dealer said that if they took a jeep in for trade with a snorkle, they removed the snorkle before they put it up for sale because if they didnt, the jeep with the snorkle was the last one sold on the lot. I guess because it was the assumption that the jeep was likely to have been in deep water. But thats what it's for, right?

I suppose one can assume that ANY used Jeep is likely to have been in deep water. The question you should be asking is, "would I rather have a Jeep that has been in deep water WITH a snorkel, or without one?" 😉

Regardless, the truth is that 99% of snorkel users never actually ford deep water. The snorkel is either just for looks or to reduce dust and cool the intake air.

But I get it. Used car buyers are always looking for the smoking gun so they can feel clever in NOT buying a vehicle. e.g. "See that butt crease in the seat cover? Ya, you know this thing's been driven hard. Pass."

(esp. if they got a woman with them)

Well, I'm a little frustrated with the quality of the one I bought. It wasn't really up to spec. I had to do a lot of modifying to get it to play nice with the other crap i put on it. The ones that require cutting are better in that they don't take up the space above the battery and fuse box area. Everything was a trade off and looking back, I think I should have traded a little different. I'd still do a snorkel though.

No, they're for getting cleaner air to the engine in dusty conditions. The snorkels aren't even water tight, and you would have to do a lot more than a snorkel if you want to go past the hood in water.

I'm not looking to ford water. I do live down in South Texas during the colder months and at least 4 times a week am on the beach and would like to reduce the amount of sand I get in the airbox.

I've got the AEV snorkel and have not regreted it at all. I have the dust spinner that i put on when im in the dirt. With the intake shown, i get more power, it throws a code because i am too much air. AEV is the only one that can work on the Diesel. I have not had to change the air filter in 10,000 miles
