I just got a JCR under the hood compressor mount. It didn't really fit at first because it was sitting too high. Since I have sort of fixed it. Now the hood shuts but Its really compressing the heat shield on under the hood. My question is should I cut out a square to make it fit better or just go with a different mount?
Thank you

... man IDK ... with the limited space under the JT hood you'll have to really ask if the juice is worth the squeeze to make it fit. I'm personally not really all that impre$$ed even with the ARB Dual to go through that effort ... anything over a 35 and they really fall off. My buddy had to help someone air up some 39's this weekend and that thing smelled like it was about to melt down.

I already had the single compressor. So it's not like I just went out and bought it. With 37's" I would have bought the dual. But I'm asking the same question, "is the juice worth the squeeze." Mounted under the hood.

Can you loosen and rotate that manifold so I doesn't sit so high? I thought you could.

actually, I think you loosen the blue heatsink and rotate the entire compressor.

It's been a long time but I had the same compressor mounted like this in my JK. I am pretty sure I had to loosen the compressor manifold up and rotate it down to clear the hood. It was extremely tight to the master cylinder.

Can the Compressor body and/or the manifold be turned to give you some clearance? For the single compressor I used the WOL mount that fits under the brake master cylinder. It fit in nice and does not take up valuable real estate on top of the engine where I have Lasfit, Voswitch switch modules, compressor on/of and air connector.

Yeah I did loosen the blue clamp and it’s clocked for the most clearance and it’s still touching. I can close the hood now but it’s making an impression on the heat shield still. I’m going to find a T so that the pressure switch and air line have more clearance but the silver part for the air lockers will still touch.

Here’s a short video of the hood closing after I cut some of the heat shield.

well I got the compressor installed, hooked up and running. I think I'm going to do the 4XE charge port door mod for the air chuck. When I do that I'll probably get a different mount that doesn't touch the hood. So basically this is temporary. I hooked the switch up to the built in AUX 3 button inside.

Some food for thought here: if your current setup is truly going to be temporary, you might give some thought to an entirely different mount when you go to permanent.

I'm personally not a fan of mounting the compressor under the hood due to engine heat and dust, neither of which will allow the compressor to run optimally. You alluded to running on 37's which is a lot of air need for that particular compressor's duty cycle. This could mean that while trying to air up all four 37's, the compressor may (before everyone jumps on me, I said could and may) require stops and cool downs. Couple that scenario with it already being hot (from the engine bay) from a day's worth of wheeling and potentially covered in dust (preventing it's own cooling capabilities), you may find it takes longer than normal to get back on the road.

Please realize that I'm not trying to say you have the wrong compressor, just saying that a different mount location could improve that compressor's performance. Consider an interior mount. Companies like Barnes 4WD and 813 Fabrication make interior mounts for underseat (front either side) or behind the rear seat.

Personally, I use the 813 mount for behind the rear seat:

Folks have concerns about interior noise level, but for me, I'm always standing outside of the vehicle talking to my wheeling buddies and never really notice it. But my compressor gets clean, cool air and it just eats that up.

Like I said, food for thought since it sounds like you are already planning on spending money on a different mount anyways...

Thanks for the insight. I have two kids and can't do a seat delete and my youngest is sensitive to noise and they will probably stay in the car while I'm airing up. I already had the single compressor from my previous rig. I would have bought the double if I didn't already have it. Ive been considering relocating the compressor to the bed but I'll have to wait until I get a camper and my drawers built and installed as well as the house battery and management system installed for that.
one of my overland mentors also passed along to me that he was never in a hurry to air up. its a good time to get out and stretch your legs, enjoy a sparkling water or other beverage.
That being said, if/when the single dies, I'll be buying the dual.

BTW, you don't have to do a seat delete. It sits inside the pocket behind the rear driver side seat; but I do get the noise issue with the little ones.
