Asking Dealership to update my computer tire size from 31 to 34, does that void certified powertrain warranty?

Basically I swapped from the stock wheels to heavier offroad tires, and I've run into issues hitting potholes causing traction/transmission issues, I know I need to update the computer but I'm afraid of going to the dealership to do it as I have the certified warranty. Should I wait the week or two for tazer or go to the dealership?

You will pay the dealer what it would cost to buy a Jscan setup. It has been reported that some dealers will no longer do this.

The warranty issues will come later, if you try to make a drive train related claim and get a bad dealer that wants to blame it on the non-factory wheels and tires.

I have 96,800 miles on mine, I changed from stock tires to 1 inch bigger and never had a single problem for 45,000 miles then at 79000 I went up to 35" that's when it started acting funny in the low gears. I recently bought a flash cal and changed the tire size shut off the tpms and I shut off the Stop/Start. . It is helping I think it is in the relearn right now. I only put it on about 1000 miles ago. It has changed it alot and speedo is now accurate . Flash Cal has that tire wizard and it did calibrate it correctly.
Very first thing in the morning for the first cycle of 1234 ..I will manually shift . Because it will drop hard in 2nd and 4th . I figured out if shift 1,2,3,4 then put over in drive . It can stay in drive and shift normal there after. Even if I run down the road 2 miles to a stop sign I can leave it in D and it shifts 1234 and on up perfectly smooth . I guess it's the age of my Transmission . Dunno. I had some cash flow problems due to family surgery expenses and the flash cal had to wait.

It isn't the tire size that has caused your issues, if that were the case many many of us would be pretty F'ed! How is the suspension doing on your rig? Sounds like odd issues related to potentially bad shocks and the need for a transmission service.

Larger tires typically require less PSI, maybe start there to see if the same spots continue to cause issues.

Dealers have been pretty clear in my area that Fiat/Chrysler/who the heck ever runs the show removed their ability to re-program factory settings for larger tires.

Jscan .. it is much less costly and allows YOU to do more on changing settings for more than tire size. BTW.. Dealers were charged $125 by Jeep to change tire size settings - unless it was with the installation of the MOPAR Lift Kits. Advise, become friends with the service mgr and a few techs at the dealership.; TIPs work well, especially with good service.

No they can't but they could try. Nowhere in the manual does it say a max size tire allowable. Even if you have driveline failure in the future. They have to prove it was a tire fault. and in any case its pretty hard to blame a tire. you'll be fine but I know my local dealer doesn't offer tire calibration services unless you buy your tires from them and they do the install.

Good concern on your part. I believe it depends if you have a good dealer and good service manager. On my 2020 I asked them if they could update my comp. for 37 inch tires. He calls me back and states yes you have that option. It will not effect the warranty. When I purchased my 2024 they set everything when they installed mopars lift kit and moved all my mods over from my 2020.

My service advisor said that you have to agree to a contract with Stellantis for them to change the tire size and they advised me against it.

I have run a Mopar lift and 35’s on my Overland since 2020. I also purchased the extended warranty. I have had the truck in for similar issues and they covered the warranty, but would only replaced them with OEM parts. my only problem was is that I could not upgrade the components even the additional expense.

Both of my local dealerships wouldn't do it ..said they no longer have that capability. I call bullcrap but I aint got time to argue and fight. So went and got a flash call + probably cost less that what they would charge or close to same. 184.00 from summit racing.

You got lucky .. they won't do it around here. A lot of guys lift their Jeeps here in this state and I think they all just got tired of doing that simple service. And even if they can still gain access to this feature in their system or would have to pay a little more for the capability they don't want to do it so choose not to purchase that capability for their customers.

My local dealer will do it, but they charge like $400+ to do it.

Buy a TAZR then open up other features you don't have now
