Aux battery disconnect ….. what did I miss?

Ok, encountered the battery issue, with the yellow alert light and ESS unavail. I have a tazer so it is disabled but wanted to disconnect the aux battery. Followed the instructions- remove F42, disconnect aux neg from main battery. Veh starts as normal, but yellow A! Still there and ESS messages still there.
do I need to “remarry” tazer since I cut power? I was under impression the disconnect would also eliminate the warning lights as well as preserve the main battery.
What did I miss or mistake?

Both batteries need replaced. Removing the F42 fuse just causes the Aux Battery Startup Test to be performed on the Main Battery. The ESS system is always active, it cannot be disabled. Having the Tazer just prevents ESS from turning the engine off when it normally would. It has no effect on charging or battery life. Removing the batteries does not cause any loss of settings. The Tazer stays married unless you unmarry it (or the dealer does a computer update with it married).

Stop what you are doing and read how the system works here! If you start playing around with it, removing fuses and tieing back cables, you should have picked up a cheap VOM from Amazon or the likes and do some testing. While you are on Amazon, look at getting an AGM battery charger.

When you learn more about the system, these tools will make more sense to you.

Did you reset the IBS? Did you do it in the correct way? Did you charge both batteries ( just the one you have connected in your case)?

If you start winging it, you may end up with a costly battery swap.

The yellow alert light can also mean that ESS was disabled due to an unrelated problem else where. Get a code scanner and check for codes.
