Awning with room

Hello,

this is my first time posting here but I am in the process of building my 2022 Mojave and I am buying a rebel half rack for it. I am also trying to go “lightweight overland” build and with that I am researching Awnings and come to find out they have rooms for these awnings as well!
After more research I see that all of the awning rooms only with 6.5’ awnings and of course the gladiator has a 5 bed so that would leave 1.5’ of awning hanging off the back…. Gross…

does anyone know if there is a awning / room combo that is 5’ or less????

I see 4.5’ awnings but no rooms.

At 4.5' there wouldn't be enough room to do anything unless you're looking for a place for a shower/toilet. If that's your need, look into a shower awning. I prefer Alu-Cab but there are several options.

With a half rack, as the op intends to purchase, the awning cannot extend forward.

Fair point, didn't catch that. How would that work even if they made a 5' awning room? The head height would be ridiculous no?

I have a 6ft. awning on my half rack, and it extends out past the bed, like the op doesn't want. I don't drive around with mine all the time so it doesn't bother me much.

Head height - If you use the poles on the end of the awning, you have the same amount of head room as it mounted on the full rack. The closer you move towards the truck, the lower the height becomes. I would suggest putting your chairs close to the truck and using that space for sitting and the outer most part of the awning for standing. Basically the awning is going to sit at an angle erected.
