I have an axle seal leak on my 2021 Gladiator Sport S Max Tow. I have been waiting almost 6 months for dealer to get parts. I am afraid that I am going to ruin the rear end and want to top off the fluid.

What fluid should I add and is there any limited slip additive that I need to add and if so, how much since I am not starting with an empty diff (at least I hope not)!

Have the dealer do it.

Valvoline 75-140 with friction modifier. It’s really easy. A dealer doesn’t need to do this any more than they need to do your oil changes. The valvoline bottle is a squeeze tube, so no need for a pump.

If you’re on level ground, fill until it starts to overflow.

6 months seems excessive. Something tells me your dealer does not really care about ever getting to this unless you push them and start going over their heads or go elsewhere.

unless you see lube on the floor or really flung about under there, it's unlikely to be low.
The spec is something like 1/8" below the hole if I recall correctly.

You'll actually be absolutely fine up to a "little finger joint" below the hole.
Pull the plug, check the level with your little finger and go from there.
It doesn't have to be up to the edge of the hole but make really sure you can easily touch the lube with your little finger only up to the first joint.

I always buy a fluid that's made for limited slip so I can use it in anything I own and not worry about additives.
The BOOK will tell you the specs.

Makes me giggle because I already had the dealer fix this once and only for it leak even worse. I still need to take it back and have the repair re-done.
