Banks IDash/ regen

Hey everyone. On my 3rd gladiator. Traded my rubicon 6speed for a 22 diesel. It’s got 45,000 miles and I installed the Banks idash. Almost immediately to keep an eye on basic parameters.

I have it set to look at the percentage of soot and miles to next regen the step level is at 0% and the regen is at about 575 miles. I put about 50 miles on the truck. Remote start idling highway and round town mix the levels have not changed at all. I have no frame of reference so is this normal? I just don’t see the odds of me installing this gauge at the exact time I finished a regen.

the gauge just reports what the ECU sez. Doesn't matter when you install it. Regen happens at +/-80% DPSL

Don't mind the zip ties, i got my mount replaced the old one cracked cause the bolt hole was to tight and when you tried tightening it sheared the plastic. I just drilled out the bolt hole a few sizes bigger and all is good.

Welcome to the forum. Doesn't sound unusual to me - like rharr says, the gauge is dumb and only reports what the computer tells it. My experience with this truck (I also have a diesel, and a Banks iDash FWIW) is that sometimes it looks like things are frozen for a long time, then there will be a big step change. Seen it with DEF level, oil life % remaining, tire pressure, DPF % full state etc.

I don't think I've ever seen it happen with oil temp, coolant temp, oil pressure, various more critical things. Maybe the canbus system is tuned to prioritize critical values, and non-critical sensors can end up holding their updates for longer

I don't ever see 0 for DPFSL% though - active regen typically kicks in at 80% (or sometimes at a mileage interval like 800 or 1000), and stops at exactly 8%. Never seen lower than that. Just to cover the obvious questions - you're certain that it's stock and has a DPF in place? Could it have been flashed to disable regens?

Nothing actionable so far though - the DPF management seems to work almost all the time without having a gauge to watch it. Unsatisfying as it is, I'm gonna suggest just continue to drive and watch for another few hundred miles before thinking too hard about it

check which parameter you are reading. Make sure you are looking at DPFSL like shown in my image and not another random parameter. Also flash your idash firmware to the latest version.

And that is a concern of line being that it has some kind of a tune on it. All the emissions equipment seemed to be there and working. The EGR valve values are accurate. And it does seem to be using DEF. I live in New York and purchased it in North Carolina and it used some on the return trip home.

Just trying to see if you guys actually see it jump say one percent for 100 miles or so. I know that’s extremely generalized, but just trying to get an idea.

It might help if you can take a pic of your gauge so we can see exactly what your a monitoring.

You are not monitoring the DPF Soot Load. You are measuring Particulate Matter Bank 1. If you are wanting to monitor the soot load it would be DPF Soot load Percent.

Pretty sure that’s what I selected. I’ll triple check PM one is particular matter. I understood that to be soot. But I still have the 575 miles to the next region that has not moved in 100 miles.

Yep that's the problem - there are PIDs for PM1/PM2 for vehicles with separate left/right DPFs. We don't have that, we have a single one that's tracked in DPFSL%. So makes sense that PM1/PM2 should be zero

I haven't ever tried miles-to-regen, so can't help with how that should behave. I just watch DPFSL% and REGEN (off/passive/on)

I do have DPFRG%. Looks like it gives me the percentage of how close it is to a region cycle.

These are the all the DPF Options that you should have available on the latest firmware 1.11.0. If you are on the latest firmware and are missing some I would contacts Banks Support. They are very helpful.

thank you so much for that. I went back and triple checked. I don’t seem to have that option, but I have a newer firmware. Guess I’ll call Banks and doublecheck.

Just out of curiosity did you set the engine in the Banks? Not sure if that makes a difference or not. Unfortunately my JT is in the shop so I can't give you the exact steps to do it but I know you can go into the settings and tell it that you have the 3.0L EcoDiesel. That might change what options are available.

Install the banks app on your phone and set everything up through that, way easier and it will install the newest firmware
