Battery Trickle Charging

This is the female side Of the plug when opening spring loaded cover. Use 1 for ground and 4 for power.

Yup - I posted the trailer side as that's what people need to coordinate with. I supposed technically someone could come up with a way to plug directly into those two without the trailer connector plug, but risky. Don't want to hit any of the other connections.

I got one of those as well figuring it could give me 12v power to things when camping.
And if used for a trickle charger - you could drive away and that 12v plug would slip right out of the trailer plug converter.

I just cut out the middleman and wired in a 12v outlet next to the plate.

Yup, exactly.

Funny , talk of this reminds me of working the gas pumps at a full service station in college. One time a lady was in a rush and proceeded to drive away ....when the gas nozzle was still in her car. Ugh. Ripped it right off the pump.

Obviously for using the trailer plug and whoever’s trickle charger you would make sure the black wires line up and the white wires line up on the plug with the wires on the charger.

So, in principle I made my own connection to the CTEC.

I used Pin 9 for plus and 13 for earth which I have checked before if they are delivering 12V without ACC on.

So you first should measure the voltage at the trailer socket and then make a plug whith the appropriate cabeling.

Luckily, here, it's simple. The pin-outs posted prior page are all one needs to know for these Gladiators (some other vehicles have round pin configurations wired differently).
For a Jeep - it's all the same - use 1 and 4 of that connector pictured on the prior page here and you'll be fine.

As a former co-worker once said about standards (he was a comp-sci professor) -
nice thing about standards in computers is there are so many to choose from.
One could say that about cars and trucks, too.

I use a NOCO-10 and have an extension running down the INSIDE the engine bay along side of the fender well... eventually to the frame.

There is a large hole in the frame that can hold as much length as you would ever need. If properly done and ziptied right, you will never know its there.

Maybe I am underthinking this but I bought the Naco 2 and hooked the wires to the battery. I used heavy duty velco to attached it to the top of the fuse box. Dropped the plug straight down and it hangs 1 inch below the front fender liner. Attached it to the fender liner with a zip tie stuck to the fender liner. I just reach into the front fender and plug it in. The ESS has worked perfectly other than the Tazer keeping it shut off. Total install was 5 minutes.

That definitely works it’s just that now it’s pretty much committed to that vehicle. I have lots of other toys that need charging thru the winter so I personally want to keep the charger ‘mobile”
