I'm looking for high-quality OEM style locking hood latches. I like the look of the Rugged Ridge ones but I don't trust their product quality, I expect the locks to seize or parts to rust/fail. Are there other options you'd recommend?

Notes:
1. I've searched pages and pages and pages trying to find a thread I vaguely remember seeing with lots of hood latch pictures and discussion but can't locate it. Sorry if this seems like a repeat topic, unfortunately it is not easy to find specific info on the forum.
2. I have a trail cam and cannot use the BOLT style lock, otherwise I would be good with that option.
3. I am tempted by the Lasfit Stealth hood lock system, but i have not had good reliability with air lines over time. They leak, and I worry the same unlock signal from my key fob being cloned would cause the hood to unlock at the same time.

I’ve used the Rugged Ridge hood locks for over one year and find them to be of good quality and well functioning.

Thanks, good to know. I suppose blanket assumptions about anything are never accurate.

Seriously? They have to state this on a product made and sold for VEHICLES??

Don't suppose these can use the same laser cut key the truck comes with?

The lastfit uses data bus signals (doesn't directly use the signal from your fob ... so no cloning worries ... and works with keyless entry) and they have added 2 different backups (one pull cable (good for dead batteries or air lines) and a button (maybe for canbus problems ... or for leaving it unlocked when bringing it to a shop)) ... as far as the air lines, they generally run through low wear areas ... only concern would be a front end collision... then I would use the cable... one thing that might annoy some is that there is a quiet hum (think 1980s self leveling Cadillac) when it locks or unlocks ... except during install testing, the only time that I hear it is when using the proximity unlock and quickly opening the door ... also - it costs more than the other options ... with all of that, I have had zero problems with it

But if they clone the fob they also unlock the hood. Only way around that is a unique fob for the hood. Clone fob, unlock doors and hood.

Quite true... of course if they have the equipment to clone the fob, they are likely in a league where the Jeep is gone regardless ... my understanding is that the majority of our weaknesses are due to the fob and databus access (e.g. behind the glove compartment)... as opposed to under the hood ... so the main thing that locking the hood does is protect it from amateurs and from individual part theft

Does anyone make a lock that uses the ignition key?
