Has anyone here done Black Bear pass in a gladiator running 40” tires? Looking to go later this summer, but I’m not sure it’s feasible with the limited turning radius you get when you have 40” tires.

Do you have a Tazer Mini? There are some features with the Tazer that will help:
- Line Lock – lock the front brakes (allows a rear dig)
- Turn Assist – lock the inside back tire for sharper turns

I would not attempt a dig on Black Bear Pass... not even in my dreams.

@OP - Full size rigs have done it, you should be fine. Slow... and may require a few more turns than a three point but doable.

Never been but I've heard stories. I would be hard pressed to try it with 40's. You really need tucked narrow tires.

We are going on Labor Day weekend. You should be fine. I’ve seen tundras and F150s do it with no issues

I think it's doable. I had no issues with 37's and have seen full size rigs complete the trail.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think his primary concerns are high center of gravity and wide wheel base. 40's also are real mean to scrub radius, and that makes turning more difficult with stock electric steering pump.

That's my point about why I wouldn't do it

Haven't taken the gladiator but the JLUR on 38s was no problem. You'll need a couple more 3 point turns but it's easily doable. I've seen a group of raptors do it and I'm pretty sure they are wider and have a worse turning radius than a JT on 40s.

Very few Jeeps fall off the road. I don't think a Gladiator has gone off yet. Get your wife a million dollar life insurance policy on you and go.
