I'm down to traction boards and a bottle jack to finish my recovery gear. I have a 12 ton jack I use around the house, but it is a bit heavy.
I'm looking at a 4 ton or a 6 ton with a carry case, and will secure it to the Gladdy board in the bed.

I went with a 20 ton from Harbor Freight and yes, it is a little heavy, but I wanted one that would be short enough to fit under the axle with a flat. I also got an axle saddle from Amazon that fits the jack. The only other thing I cary is a piece of wood to use in soft sand but your traction boards can double for that

highly recommend a bottle jack buddy to go with it. Spend a few extra bucks and get the real thing and not the Chinese knock off. Can’t beat the BJ Buddy

Mine is either a 9 or a 12 ton, honestly can’t recall. Does the job, rides in the bed like a champ until I need it.

I got a bottle jack for one reason. The factory scissors jack failed the first time. I was on the shoulder of an off ramp changing a flat. The jack was near the edge of the asphalt and it had been raining. The edge of the asphalt sagged a little and the jack collapsed, bent in half. Great! Walked 3/4 mile in the rain to a truck stop and back again, and carried the new bottle jack with me. Why does crap like this always happen in the rain?? My jack fits neatly behind the rear seat.

I don't think the bottle jack is anything special. It's more about the attachments and convenience of having it all together in one bag. No leaking from mine, and has worked well the few times I've used it in the past three years.

You hit the nail on the head... convenient and easily stored.

I have a 20 ton bottle jack for emergencies, it is kind heavy but not really much more
than a 10-15 ton jack.
