I'm happy that the Gladiator looks the way it does, I've always wanted a Wrangler and the Gladiator is a Wrangler with a bed.
That's why I bought this TRUCK.
I need a truck, but have always loved the Jeep styling of the Wranglers, and their ancestors. My brother has owned them over the years - you see him out and about, he's in a Jeep, usually a Wrangler. And of course there was "envy" - I want one of those, but waist deep in cars and other stuff, no way. Then I saw the Gladiator..........now I could have both, a truck AND a "Wrangler".

My 2.0T Audis hit maximum torque at 1500 RPM. The torque curve was flat. It was crazy. i can’t see how the 2.0T could be great for off roading and towing.
I had that motor in my MKVII VW GLI. Crazy flat torque curve (stock), and extremely tuneable. I had 450 ft. Lbs with just bolt-ons and a stage 2 tune. The torque curve once tuned was really fat at the bottom, and tapered a bit at high RPMs. It was really fun, but nearly useless around town in a GLI or GTI, since they are front wheel drive only. So it would spin tires in 2nd gear at 25 mph if you floored it. It'd just spin to redline, even with summer tires. But man oh man, it was fun for merging on the highway and passing. I'd like to get an Audi with quattro or a Golf R, and tune it the same way.

A grinder at the Iowa State Fair is a loose meat sandwich usually on a hoagie bun, they are spicy, Italian sausage based, normally with cheese melted onto the meat. Greasy, spicy, great, a meal in itself.
They are no longer called "guinea grinder" because it's a slur against Italians, years ago called "Guineas". So now they are simply "grinder" or "Italian grinder"

I did APR stage 2 on my S3. It was a monster. I sold it before I got arrested. It was fast all around, but maybe the fastest car I’ve ever driven on the hwy.

Launch control was ridiculous too.

As someone who's job is dealing with vehicles that go to auction, I'll never buy a modern turbo gasoline engine. Almost every vehicle that I come across that uses a turbo has some kind of issues with it. Almost all the natural aspirated ones are perfectly fine.

If all you want is a slightly more powerful engine than the V6, and have it last through your lease or around 60k-80k miles without many issues, it's probably perfectly fine, but if you are wanting a long term vehicle, I go for natural aspirated any time.

edit: We used to buy Hondas almost exclusively, but with their push to turbo engines, we are done with them.

Your job somewhat makes you see more problems than the average person ever will though. I've run a bunch of turbo vehicles. All have been fine. Even when pushed hard. There are so many mainstream 4 cylinders turbo motors at this point, and most of those work out just fine. When you get to 120,000-150,000 or so you might have to replace a turbocharger. But that's not the end of the world. I think everyone has pretty much gone to turbo 4s (or even turbo 3s in Chevys).

I can't believe this is even a topic. Should wrangler owners wave at gladiator owners or vice versa. My Mojave is every bit the jeep that my 18 Rubicon is and the last I checked, I have the Jeep badge on my gladiator. Their both great vehicles! When we wave we are recognizing something we have in common. Have fun with it!

Not to take away from experience , but modern twin scroll turbos ,engine tech , and transmissions create , pretty linear power , not like the light switch they were into the 90s and early 2000s . I've never had an issue off-road . And any build going into tuff stuff should have appropriate gearing to help further .

1. Because the Gladiator IS a Wrangler with a bed
2. Drove the 2.0t for a week, don't care if it's faster, it sucks esp with the e-torque.

Don't have e torque over here . I can't speak to that . What sucked about your experience ?

I'm actually surprised how many folks really love the wrangler front on the Gladiator . I really liked the nukieser concept years past , and hoped for something unique and more historically Gladiator like . However I don't hate the JL front either . This has made for interesting feedback !

If it didn't look like what it does, it may not have caught my attention, however, I did have an 87 Comanche and would love to get my hands on an old Willys pickup a farmer a few miles out has by his barn.
