I for one agree with the small 5 lug pattern. There are very few 5 on 5 wheels that will fit a trailer hub without spacers which means no common spare for those of us who actually plan to do some “overlanding”

Plus, the addition of larger tires puts more stress on the lugs and can cause crap like this to happen

If you all recall, the brake controller was an option on the site pre-release. My thought is they are working out the kinks and it'll be available as option in a few months. Nothing to freak out about. It's a first year release.

The ONLY legitimate complaint anyone can have about the Gladiator is that it's priced too high. A fully loaded Taco TRD Pro is about $46k while the Rubi goes to $60k. That's a big gap and the only justification us Jeep guys have is that we can go fully convertible. I happen to think that's a bargain for being able to go fully convertible as nothing else can. But It would have been nice if it capped out at $52K rather than $60k.
Also, keep in mind, the JT is only marginally more expensive than the JL and that has been selling well enough. So you're getting two cars in one.

All the other complaints are total bs as everyone has said already.

How about: "You built an awesome overlanding rig but didn't give it overlanding range" IE: Should have 28 gal fuel tank minimum.
You have a whole truck bed to carry fuel in.

Wow, that is a crap article... I recommend pulling the link so they don't get any more traffic here than they've already received.

They are completely ignorant when it comes to jeeps. For example when they talk about poor approach and departure angles and the rock rails as proof.

Well you know what, my 2 door Rubi Wrangler came with the same rails, it has nothing to do with length. It has everything to do with protecting a vulnerability. I have planted my slider on a rock on purpose and slid over the rock. It's called wheeling, and these guys never did it.

I am a little more accepting of some of the reasonable faults, like the mirrors and trailer braking. It's a Jeep, I'll mod it.

I've had a few and probably too accustomed to mods at this point

But the post. Oy vey.

I still can't believe people are complaining about the brake controller. They're are literally hundreds of aftermarket controllers that will work and it's pre wired for it. Jeep even makes one that plugs right in.

You can't tow without a hitch and ball at all, it's more important than a brake controller, and it doesn't come with one of those, either. Why aren't people bitching about that?

Did not read. Thanks to above posters who saved me from wasting time. This JT is 100% Jeep, 100% Truck. The only reason I'm going used is price. Otherwise, I'll take an LE Gladiator and nothing else. Except I like the concept if you want a big truck get that too. And ESS and tech - meh, not my style. Too much tech but hey it's 2020, came that way.

MISSING TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER

A number of features and design flaws mean the Gladiator is not entirely built for towing but the fact remains that a large number of owners will use their Jeeps for exactly that purpose. It’s surprising that they have chosen not to offer a trailer brake controller to enable owners to tow heavy loads safely. It’s entirely possible that Mopar will offer different tow-assisting products such as a brake controller, towing mirrors, and a weight distributing hitch but there has been no official confirmation of this. The lack of tow assists that come as standard represents a huge missed opportunity for Jeep.

If you don't like it, don't buy it, nit picking is futile.

If I could like this post multiple times I would! I am sick of reading the complaints about this truck. If you don't like the gladiator then don't buy one its that simple.
I came across that when I was searching for any data on when the Diesel option might be available. I was curious as to what the points may be.

I found the piece to be rather funny. Most of the points with but a few word changes could be applied to almost any vehicle. There are few grains of legitimacy and the few legit comments are not significant drawbacks in any way.

That said you have to approach this for what it is. Just a writer trying to appeal to the non-jeepers of which there are MANY.

There is an excellent forum out there that I used to be on and it addresses a segment of the off-road world that especially appeals to me...Jeepers are tolerated (barely). If you don't have a "Landy" (Land Rover) or a "G-wagon" Mercedes Benz then you don't run with the real experts of the off-road world. Of course, I liked to tell them that the first Landy was built on a Jeep frame and used Jeep components.

So just blow this Top 20 list of Jeep faults off...when you are king of the hill and have been since 1941 a lot of folks like to throw rocks. And they don't have a Rock big enough to stop my Jeep.

Haha!

#14 - "If you want a Gladiator with a non-removable roof, you simply can’t buy one."

That's the whole point, numnuts!

#11 - Inconvenient window switches. "they have hidden the switches in the center console" Hahahaha!

This list can't be serious - I think the author is trying to be funny.

Amateur provocation for sure;
1. Landrover have window switches in the center console as we as the a fore mentioned Porsche.
2. Why would anyone want an off road vehicle to pull a Park Trailer of 8' wide? my trailer is an off road trailer 7'wide, the mirrors are perfect.
3. I didn't buy a JT to "sit in the back" I'll drive thanks. Not comfy? buy whatever vehicle you like, but I'm not getting you un-stuck.
4. I do agree on the fuel tank, give me more range to get further away from negative social media and fake news, please!
5. I'm happy, enjoy your Subaru or whatever you think has the off the lot, 4x4 advantage. If it doesn't have a transfer case, I'm not interested.
