My new 2023 Gladiator ( auto ) will not shift into 4H or 4L . Lever will not budge . I checked underneath and nothing was out of the ordinary . Not a NB . Any ideas ?

Shift the transmission into neutral when moving at about 3-5 mph.

It will take a few shifts to get 4 Hi to work smoothly. 4 Lo almost always requires that 3-5 mph motion to go in.

I tried both stopped and slow roll , will not budge . Pulling hard enough to move it ( 30 lbs of aft force ) .

If the rolling start doesn’t help, then take it to the dealer and ask them to try it. I say try again yourself though and REALLY pull that sucker. I had to push really hard going from 4Lo once. Thought I broke something but it’s fine.

You said "new 2023" right? Take it back to the dealer and watch them put it into 4H/L. :) :). My guess is that it will go right in - but if there IS something wrong - let THEM break it. LOL. It takes some effort the first few times.

Yup, it can be tough to get the lever to move sometimes. At 35k now and lots of 4x4 use and mine is still stiff going into 4 low, sometimes I have to smash on it to get back to 4 high.

Force it or bring it to the dealer to have them force it! Not sure how you might have measured your 30lbs of force but that’s not enough apparently

Took me multiple times to get into 4lo. that effer is still hard to get into but it is getting easier. Of course i didnt think about breaking that in until I was at a trail head and i held up the convoy slightly.

My 2023 was like butter from the factory. I’d definitely recommend letting them look at it.

just echoing what everybody else is saying- you feel like you are breaking something that first time or two going into 4L!

On a side note, my wife's new '24 JL Sport S went into 4L as easily as any Wrangler I've ever dealt with, but it also wouldn't let me (while in 4L) put the vehicle back into "D" from neutral unless I was stopped- and it gave a warning that said "speed to high to go into Drive" or something like that. It was curious, but I liked how quickly it went to 4L, so I'll take it.

While rolling go to neutral on the transmission and pull back on the transfer case lever. If it doesnt go return to D and try again. No foot on the gas or brake.

4h can go in while in Drive but 4L must be in neutral first. Like everyone said, pull it harder lol

4L can be a real pain to get it rolling slow, pop trans into neutral, and down into 4L.

4High though, easiest way is to get rolling, push the gas a little....then release the gas and as soon as you do, pull the lever to 4H. That's when all the gears should be floating. Do that a number of times to get it broken in. At that point 4H should go easier when stopped.
