Good afternoon, everyone,

I hope you all are having a wonderful day so far. I wanted to create this thread for some insight and possible suggestions on what might be going on with my Jeep Gladiator 24 Sports S. I bought this vehicle back in April. I noticed the check engine light pop on probably only a week or so after driving and took it to my dealership immediately. It is there where they read the code and changed the O2 sensor citing it might've been a faulty one installed from the manufacturing of the vehicle. Well, three days or so later, the engine light comes back on, and it is throwing the O2 sensor code again -- this time for the other sensor. They replace the other sensor, and it still does not turn off the light. I wasn't offered a rental or anything from my dealership and became quickly frustrated. I had a Honda Civic before and understood I was transitioning into a vehicle with a lot more going on, but in no world did I think I would have this brand-new Jeep stuck at the dealership with nobody urgently trying to figure out the solution in this vehicle with less than 1,000 miles on it.

So, after picking up the vehicle because I was displeased with the urgency and hospitality of my local Jeep dealership, I drove the Jeep for another couple weeks with the check engine light still on trying to figure out a gameplan. She drove just fine with absolutely 0 problems, and I ended up dropping it off to another dealership with fantastic reviews about 25 mins away from me. I dropped it off on July 1st. They ended up diagnosing that the computer to the main engine was faulty and they ordered a brand-new computer to be installed. As you can guess, that did not work.

So, here is where I ask if anyone has had this similar issue or any advice on this issue? As of right now, the shop manager has the vehicle and has a STAR case open in order to try to figure this out. Has anyone else had a STAR case open? This is my first time dealing with something like this and my service manager has pretty much told me they have no estimated timetable of when they can resolve this...

Thanks guys -- first time Jeep owner and happy to be a part of the family, but incredibly frustrating right now!

I can't offer any help on this but chances are good that once they sort this out you'll be problem free for a long time! So many new vehicles have an initial issue.

First time huh?

But in all seriousness. I f doesn't go away after a STAR case you can lemon law it and go get a different one or something else. Mine came with holes in the soft top from factory.

Get all your records together and consult with a Lemon Law Attorney. If they can't fix it, they have to replace it. You have to give them a chance, so let the process play out. The Attorney can advise on the laws for your state. If you have a good dealer, they will start the process if they are unable to repair it.

Contact @JeepCares for assistance. They should be providing a vehicle to drive while yours is in the shop.

People Work?
On the STAR case, the local technician will conference with a higher level (doesn't have to sweep floors or clean bathrooms) technician from Jeep. They will try things and clear the codes.
Then you will drive some more and let them know if they had any luck.

Do you have access to what the codes were?

A coworker was going through the lemon law process. It was determined that he didn't give the dealership enough attempts to repair his car.( O2 sensor faults)
Arbitration agreed with the car company as clearing the code is not an attempt to repair a car, only to verify that it wasn't just a glitch. In the end, the car was repaired, the dealer had it for 6 months doing nothing to pending arbitration.

They replaced 4 o2 sensors and a fuel injector. Soon after that he got a p420 if I remember correctly. The dealership replaced the catalytic converter due to the history.

Did you see the O2 sensor they took out? I had Plymouth Breeze many years ago that burned through O2 sensors every 3 weeks. The dealer just kept replacing them and telling me they were faulty. In reality the head was warped and was leaking coolant into the exhaust. The head gasket finally blew only months after the warranty expired. The dealer knew what the problem was, they were told to keep the customers in the dark until the warranty ran out. If the head is leaking, the sensor will be greenish and smell like coolant.

My 2024 Rubicon did the same thing. They ended up replacing all 4 sensors one at a time over about 3 weeks.
It has been good since.

As frustrating as it is just let it play out. You can call daily on updates if you like, it is your expensive purchase and you have that right. For the moment look at this way, the failure mode has been run up the pole to tech support, none of it is on you in anyway other than not having the truck, which again is frustrating. There isn’t a high dollar bill you be waiting for. As a technician I can tell you this is how a vast majority of TSB’s and campaigns are created is by cases like this. From a tech support view they may see trends in failures from various dealers. Might be a supplier change in particular component or issues with a certain run of components or might simply be a one off wiring harness issue with your particular truck.
