So this is the wear on the front tires from a 4Runner. Falken Wildpeak A/T 3W. Pics aren’t great but you can see the raised portions fairly well. Don’t think they’re supposed to be like that. Correct me if I’m wrong.

How often rotated?
Yup, ats/mts should be rotated 3-5k miles. Not once a year/10k miles when you get your oil change done. I don’t know how many sets of tail boss duratracs I took home and sold for 150-250 bucks because people thought they were shit but only rotated once a year. (Chevy dealer)

It’s fairly new to us. We just hit 5k this week. Today was the first chance I had to do the 4 tire rotation. The spare is a Milestar AT. When it’s time for new tires we’ll get her 5. She was complaining of steering wheel vibrations.

Had similar on my factory Wildpeaks. They got pretty noisy (howling on the freeway). Alignment was good. Four tire cross rotation didn't help. I might have caught it too late. Switched to KO2s when I went to 35s. So much quieter and more comfortable. Good luck.

My Wild Peaks were pretty quiet when I bought this Jeep new 6000 miles ago. They were rotated at 5,000.

They’v gotten noticeably louder since new.

I unfortunately had to go 10k without a rotation (hated myself for it) and was concerned abou tthe abnormal wear I may face after. To my surprise there was no cupping yet, just tires that got wore down a bit sooner and will need replacement sooner (reason to go 34s by summer). Doubled the tread wear in that time, but at least it was even wear, especially during winter).

I have the stock 255/75r17 firestone MTs and they have about 17k hard miles on them, they're a bit louder than around 10k but I won't be buying them again (hatred for FS as a company). When I say louder, they're not screaming down the highway, but typical mud truck sounds, and surprisingly not loud (yet) in the city. You CAN hear the treadblocks thump in the wet through in the city now, you couldn't around 10k though.

I’ve never actually had a tire do this. It was pretty surprising when I was rolling the tires around to do the rotation. I could actually see and feel it lunging rolling by hand. In my head I was thinking no wonder she’s getting vibrations.
Wont be getting 35’s on this one until I can get er on some solid axles. Maybe some JL or JT take offs. To my knowledge CVs won’t handle them on the trail.

I’ve had tires do that on my Toyotas but never on my Jeeps. Toyota alignment specs are questionable, in spec still allows positive camber which could lead to this issue.

Yep. That’s how I do all my rotations. Just different to see how tires react to different vehicles and suspension setups. I figured some tire nerds would appreciate the images. (I’m a tire nerd 🤓)
