I’m not sure if the noise I’m hearing is the same tick. It’s almost a diesel-like sound, just off idle RPM under load. I notice it moving my travel trailer around parking lots.

That sounds pretty Normal to me. Mine I can hear over ALL of that.Dang you guys have me all nervous now thinking the ticking mine makes isn't normal. Thoughts?
care to share a video please?That sounds pretty Normal to me. Mine I can hear over ALL of that.
I'm having trouble uploading the file. I'll probably have to film another one at a lower resolution.care to share a video please?
Mine sounds exactly the same.Dang you guys have me all nervous now thinking the ticking mine makes isn't normal. Thoughts?
I've noticed a diesel-like sound on my '22 Mojave. For me it is as I go up a hill that leads away from my home. I'm going around 30mph and the incline is about 4% (+100 ft over about 500 yards). Not awful, but noticeable each time. Just wish I was getting the mileage of a diesel to go along with the diesel-like engine knock of my gasser.I’m not sure if the noise I’m hearing is the same tick. Sounds like a 3.6 running with the hood open........ I guess I didn't hear anything abnormal. But then recording something with a phone microphone and then playing it back on a phone or computer, a lot gets lost.Dang you guys have me all nervous now thinking the ticking mine makes isn't normal. Alright thanks I figured its just the ticking of the fuel injectors etc at this point but it does sound like a diesel at times. Runs fine and oil is kept up. It doesn't get driven much (maybe 6000 miles a year.) That video was recorded on a cold startup so if it sounds ok to you guys I'm ok.Sounds like a 3.6 running with the hood open........ Oh yuck. :-( Man I hope to not have to deal with that same issue. That sounds more like a rod knock or bad bearing in the lower end, not top end stuff though.
Hopefully this works but you can hear the sound pretty well in the video.
@kscoke does this sound familiar?
Yeah it can definitely be heard more clearly through the bottom, but engine sounds can trick you sometimes. Whatever it is I hope they fix it when I go in on Monday instead of "could not recreate". The sound tends to go away once it is warmed up.Oh yuck. :-( Man I hope to not have to deal with that same issue. Yes, other than likely tune differences, the same basic engine.I have the 2020 gladiator and I believe it is the same engine as the wranglers up to that point if i remember correctly...
And that tends to point to piston slap or valve train noise. Rods and mains don't typically "sound better" with a warm up......... but valve train sounds can as parts expand, same with piston slap.The sound tends to go away once it is warmed up.
