That's what happens when you rate a car based on static performance metrics and not doing any qualitative/objective research. Personally, I bought my Gladiator specifically FOR the wind noise. Gladiator is literally the only midsize truck i'd buy because it makes up for all the compromises of a midsize truck by being a Jeep. If it wasnt for the Gladiator, I'd have a JL and would have kept my F150 for truck stuff. Other midsize trucks just plain suck.

This guy gets it, objectively the gladiator is the worst midsize truck much like a convertible is worse than the hardtop version of the same sports car typically. In terms of which one you want to own though, as was mentioned no one is dying to get a ridgeline lol.

They do actually do owner survey's though and gladiator i believe was within 3 points of the leader.

I’m not sure why the Maverick and Hyundai (Santa Fe, Veracruz, Santa Cruz…I don’t like their naming) are even mentioned as I thought those were compact. At least the Maverick is.
And for the midsize trucks, something I swear is never mentioned but seeing as they’re all available with a crew cab option so it should be important is the rear seat comfort. The Gladiator is the only one I would be comfortable enough in the back seat to take any kind of road trip. All of the other midsize trucks have my knees buried in the seatbacks or straddling them. It’s odd to me how seldom this is mentioned considering how much roomier the JT is compared to those in its class.
Yes, this and most have a sloped rear passenger roof.

Only things I agree with in this article are the fuel efficiency should be better and the steering needs improvement as well. But I would never buy a Ridgeline, no matter how many great reviews it gets. I believe in buying American and nothing is as fun as a Jeep! ??
Since the notorious steering fix on my 2020 Max Tow sport my Truck handles like a dream. Towed a camper 1020 miles back home and can’t wait to get out again

Please kill this thread as anyone reading it has a Gladiator and and all it will do is make people pissed and somehow it will be a 30 pages of bull$%&t with no end . We all did our research and knew what we were getting . It's a Fiat, Chrysler Jeep " thing" so there's gonna be some issues . I got it cause I wanted it with it's loose steering box gear , horrible wind noise , death defying driving in the hard wind prowess , The derating when hot ETC ETC ETC ................ . I paid 63grand for a potential sh$! show of issues and did it knowingly and would do it aging ands most of would again so don't be afraid of jd or biscuit they're haters the Jeep aint that bad .
Glad you like it Bro. I’ve got no complaints either

I never trust a headline to summarize a quatitative survey, especially not in our post-Covid ERA. Always look at sample size, when/how the survey samples were collected, and if any results were excluded.

The fine print I found buried a ways down in the article:
"The segment is very close in quality, especially according to J.D. Power, where three points separate the top from the bottom."
MY HEADLINE: Photo-Finish in Midsize Truck Segment.

I wish these putative reviewers would quit comparing real off-road vehicles (i.e. Gladiator and Tacoma TRDPro) to an all-wheel drive car with a bed on the back. Of course it rides better, but can it crawl up the Rubicon trail, or even Moab's relatively easy fins and things? Of course not. It's the epitome of an apples and oranges comparison. I've driven 4X4s since 1968, Jeeps, Isuzu Troopers/Rodeos, Toyota Tacomas, and my JTR is on the train right now, and I won't expect it to ride like a car called a truck with a bed on the back. We have a Subaru Forester for comfort and safety, but it won't rock crawl. Damn good in the snow though.

I do not think even if you're measuring it on a purely onroad scale it's the worst. Part of a good vehicle is how it makes you feel when you drive it. And driving a Ridgeline or Santa Cruz would make me cry. Ranger is a tad boring. Tacoma is reliable and still has a manual option so I'd be okay with it. Colorado/Canyon also bore me. Maverick is only cool if you're getting the 20k hybrid fwd one. If you option one out might as well have a ranger.

""The publication calls it “clumsy with mushy and slow steering that requires a lot of arm work…”"

Hey, that arm work prevents from having clumsy and mushy arms.

"Hates wind noise in cabin" It's a convertible.
Plus it makes off-road driving safer than a Ridgeline that really can't do that anyway.

Maybe Honda should learn how to build worse trucks then. Last I saw the gladiator outsold the Ridgeline 2:1
Again, the Ridgeline is an all-wheel drive car with a bed on the back. Should compare it to Subarus or Toyota Rav4.

Worst Mileage? All the mid sized trucks get about the same... my 2017 GMC Canyon 2wd SLT was 18 in town, and 24 hwy. My JT was getting 19-20 mixed before I lifted and threw away mileage for 35's...
My TRDPro gets about 16 around town and on a good day 19 on the highway (at 65 or below).
