I had 40's Patagonias and not a single one was round. Two were out of round by 3/16", one was out 1/8" and the other out by 1/16".......made the truck ride like crap. Bought some Pro comp xtreme MTII and it rides like a dream now.

UPDATE! CONTROL ARM DROP BRACKETS FIXED ALL OF IT! Yes I'm yelling ....I'm so happy.
Which drop brackets did you get?
I have a set of the metal cloaks in my office, waiting for everyone else's vehicles to quit breaking so I have a chance to install them..

I don't have any DW issues, but mine is on a Clayton 3.5 and its probably a hair too light for the spring rate and likes to really get squirrely when driving over really busted pavement..

Sorry about the long delay. I also used the metalcloak brackets. Worked like a charm. Haven't wheeled them yet but appear to be pretty strong

I also have the trackbar/steering box brace sitting on my desk. At some point I'll get it installed too. Hope it takes the last little bit of wander out of it on these fast 2 lanes.

Hey, good feedback and info in this thread. Have a question on my setup:

I've got a Willys on 35" KO2's (drove great), have swapped springs to takeoff Mohave springs (no idea what that really even did or means but they were cheap and I liked the silver color) and installed a 2.5" front spacer & shock extenders/longer sway ends at the same time. So I'm around 2.5-3+" taller than a stock Willys at the front. I know, I should have measured first, but I always forget that step on lift installs. Anyway, that's all I had time to do that day. And now I don't love how it drives, which is understandable since I ran out of time to install all my parts.

My question is, I also have the extended LCA's from the Jeep 2" lift kit I haven't installed. Will installing these get the ride back to where I want it? Or do I need to get the metalcloak drop brackets to be totally happy? And then, if I do get the drop brackets, should I use my stock LCA's or the Jeep 2" lift kit longer LCA's with them?

I know the simple answer is just install the longer LCA's I've got and see, but I'd like to just be done with it properly this next time it's up on jackstands ha. Metalcloak's are on sale, and I've also installed their sway bar kit which was great.

I also have an adjustable front track bar and 2" Iron Rock rear spacers/shock extenders for what it's worth that I'll install at that time as well.

Apologies, I know that's a lot of random thoughts and info, but not sure on the whole drop bracket/LCA from 2" jeep kit thing.

Thanks all!! And a pic for fun of course!

I have the Clayton uppers set to stock length, stock lowers, and metal cloak drop brackets and it tracks straight and rides well in my opinion. Not darty or sluggish. In my opinion the brackets do more for geometry and ride comfort than the arms do. Added benefit is they are sacrificial to the stock frame arm mounts.

The adjustable control arms let you adjust your pinion angle (rotation of your front axle) to get it back to a factoryish position (adjusts your caster which is the rotation of the front axle). When you don't have enough caster the wheel won't center correctly and you'll end up with poor steering characteristics (flighty, wandering etc) especially on the highway. Quite often you end up wanting a bit more caster then factory once you go to the bigger lift, bigger tires etc. If you have both upper and lower adjustable control arms you can adjust your axle position front to back of the vehicle as well.

The drop brackets help to level out your control arms and get them back to a factoryish geometry which makes the truck ride better(smoother) and helps with range of motion of the suspension. When the angle of the control arms gets to high you end up getting a lot more impact to the body of the truck by bumps in the road.

Something to be careful of is how short you can make you adjustable control arms when combining with the drop brackets. I have EVO control arms on my 4.5" lift and added the Rancho drop brackets to take some of the harshness out of the ride and could barely make the lower control arms short enough.

Also if you haven't bought drop brackets yet, you may want to look at a set with multiple upper hole positions as it allows you an easy way to test slight caster adjustments.

Thanks, good info!

So I'll be using the factory uppers, and either the factory lowers or the Mopar 2" lift slightly longer lowers. Would one be better than the other? Would they be too long with the drop brackets or would the extra length help?
