Does anyone know much it is to put a new 3.6 in a Gladiator? I have exhaust in my coolant so I’m trying to prepare for the worst…

I had a new engine installed earlier this year (under extended warranty), but the non-warranty total was somewhere around $7.5k installed through the dealer with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty.

Buddy of mine had the dealer replace on an older JK. Was about $7500, labor included.

There was another post where a guy was quoted $5,200 to repair a blown head gasket. I’d definitely go another $2,300 and get a whole new motor with a warranty.

I just had one put in my 2020 from dealership. $11k. I was only a few months out of warranty and mine had the 3.6 tic, which is why I took it in. Found out the bottom end was bad. Jeep offered to pay 60%, I paid the other 40%.

How does one get exhaust in their coolant? And how would one know?

Price is going to depend wildy on how you attack it.

An actually new engine installed at the dealer is probably 5 figures, maybe 15k.

A good core on Car-part.com installed by a local could probably be 5 or less.

Cracked head, bad gasket.

There are test kits you can dip the coolant in to know.

Typically, its from a blown head gasket. Overheating is the first key indicator. Next would be coolant overflowing from the exhaust forcing the coolant into and out of the reservoir. You should also be able to smell the coolant and it smells more like exhaust than maple syrup. I had a gasket go on my 2016 JK and decided to go the replacement head gasket route. I found a shop in central NC to do it for $4,300.
