Sars was About 10 years about ago. U can go about every 10 back since forever. Still it is pneumonia that is the killer then and now along with TB, HIV, Auto Accidents and Suicide ! COPD, Diabetes, Heart Disease are leading the way here 2. Dam !

Update: 84 hour event including cancelled evac plane at site, local mayor not allowing our entrance in his city, finally allowed access by bus..at 1 AM, straight to quarantine in airport until international flight flew me out to Amsterdam. Amsterdam airport was empty...Chicago empty and the same LAX.... I am finally out of Kazakhstan and safe back in Southern California. Good luck to all the guys i left back at site that couldn’t get out to their countries and good luck to us here while this thing builds.

Ummm.... No. China has taken zero measures to combat the viruses that start at ground zero in their country....many many times now. They are culpable...zero doubt. Then there are the outright lies to the rest of the world. Yes, I'll respectfully disagree. I think you're giving The Communist regime there way too much credit. I do agree we as a nation needs to be better prepared. That's a no brainer.We should blame God for creating fish, somebody in China got it from a fish market I heard.......Umm, no.

The USA was SLOW to react.
We should stockpile medical equipment and upgrade our pandemic survival guide for the next time this happens, if this one doesn't kill us all first, (no i don't think that will actually happen.)

Saw the Phillipino's are shooting people not staying home ! Time will most likely show the extent of action against the Chinese People by their Government. In my estimation the whole deal of flying in and out of at least South Asia is so stupid. All POTUS since Jimmy Carter have kissed South Asia arss. Absolutely the correct decision for a Captain of a US Naval front line aircraft carrier to make while in port. All able hands free of disease abandon ship. Go to quarantine immediately. Correct and write a decisive letter to the Admiral Stating exactly why. Absolutely nothing at afault here. Ship; is in US Waters and safe as it can get with the infected aboard. Limited Medical available in a War Ship. Certainly not enough to treat 4500 Covid -19 patients properly on a war ship. Eventually he will end up a Consultant. Good head there for facts and measured responses.
In time the Ship will be scrubbed with a toothbrush and the healthy crew members will return back aboard. No Ship of death here to be Nationally Ashamed of. Proud Tradition always and not at war ! LOL

a brain dead fool has no clue of what a Commander of a Aircraft carrier has to understand. The ship is safe, it is not a national embarassment dead ship, JHC the crew can come back aboard in a couple of weeks. The ship deserves a comondation and the Crew deserve medals. The Commandeer just won a General Star. Is tough decision to give to your crew especially in peace time. Do your Duty in times of war or fire apon and do your duty, to protect the ship is in the highest tradition of the navy, all those of the Navy on that ship get my Salute, God Speed ! This isn't some kind of Corporate Decision about Money, it is about National Security and the Current Political Climate is totally Wrong repubs!

The primary role of that skipper is to keep that boat operational. He should have engaged his chain of command through SIPR classified. He should not have messaged out in the clear and for God sakes they should not have had a port of call in Vietnam. The COVID situation was well known by then and that was poor judgement. I appreciate his concern for the crew but it was handled poorly.
