Ok. You win. I’m an idiot. You do you
No interest in a cyber truck, but I am looking forward to the EV wrangler. If it's anything like the magneto 2.0 or 3.0 concepts I'm in. 100% torque at any rpms, absolute finite control of the throttle, 900+ftlbs, and solid axles. There isn't a better crawling powertrain ever devised. If it's done correctly it will be amazing. If they stick to the stellantis ev platform design and it's 4 wheel independent suspension with no travel I'm out. 300+ road miles will be plenty but I am hoping for 400+ like the large battery rivians. If they place all the batteries between the frame rails it will likely have a lower cog than the ice wrangler too. The tech is there to make it amazing but I'm not holding my breath that they'll build it the way I would.

I not sure why some people hate it so much. It almost seems personal. I have a deposit on one since 2019 lol. It was something new and different. I've since changed my mind about it and placed a deposit for a 2024 gx550. It has lost its luster and novelty over the last couple of years.
Because in the last few years a certain subset of the population has been deeply triggered and offended by Elon and by association, hate the Cybertruck and even Tesla. Keep in mind these are the same people cramming EVs and Tesla down your throat 3+ years ago.

For the record I have a reservation as well simply because the capabilities are insane. Not sure I’ll pull the trigger I love my Gladiator.

Cheers

They did, it's called the EcoDiesel ?
Is this the same Jeep EcoDiesel that runs off of runs off of shredded HPFP internals?

Sorry, I couldn't help it. Former oil burner here, x3.

That have not been my experience. I see more hate stuff against Tesla and pretty much all EVs in general from Jeepers and truck people. I think that's pretty funny considering most people don't take their trucks/jeeps offroading. Most are using it as a daily commuter, which an EV would be more suited.
I'm planning to keep the Gladiator for as long as I can. I'm hoping for 200k before I need some expensive repairs. Ok, maybe 150k miles. Anyways, it will be nice to have Toyota/Lexus back into the family again along with the Jeep.

I think it kind of looks like the old Pontiac Aztek, but even uglier. I guess I’m stuck mentally with traditional truck styling.

I'm waiting for them to make my Jeep go 300 miles on or off road... I'm lucky if I break 250 out of a tank on road.
You should have gotten a diesel. I get at a minimum of 500.

In all practicality, would you really go rock crawling in a battery operated vehicle? Aren't the battery packs in the exact place you would occasionally be dragging the bottom of the truck? Sure you could armor up and plate the bottom but at what additional weight? I am going to assume that damaging the battery pack is game over and at what environmental cost? I'm not talking about a few gallons of oil and fuel because we are now dealing with caustic chemicals and fires that cannot be put out. Some of the most recent guidance on EV fires is to "just let them burn". If you would like to look like the Man Who Fell to Earth at the grocery store or the mall then fine but it's not ready for any real off road consideration is it?

I like the look (except the wheels), but would never buy a Tesla. I don't trust Elon Musk to not implode the company on some "eccentric" whim, thus leaving a vehicle with no support 3 years from now.
To be fair, most stock wheels on any vehicle are fugly! hahahaha

If dragging your belly was a concern you wouldn't do it in ice either since your oil pan, transmission, transfer case, gas tank are all as low or lower than the batteries and would also be game over if they get trashed on the trail. EVs already have heavily armored batteries so it's not really an issue or worry.

The trails are full of eMTB and eMoto riders. No one has punctured a battery pack and started a forest fire yet. Lots of fires started by hot exhaust or lack of spark arrester though.

While I’m not a fan of the CT design, I am a Tesla fan having just bought a Model Y. While EV’s are certainly not for everyone they can be an attractive option for many. Personally I’m tired of every pick up or SUV looking like all the rest. That’s part of the reason I bought my JTR.
