Hey guys, I thought this would be a 15 minute deal but here I am.

I am want to install my dead pedal but the factory bolt will not budge… I used a socket wrench with 13mm, tried a regular 13mm wrench and nothing. I also went to get adapter for my 3/8 socket wrench to fit the 1/2 13mm deeper depth and added an extension because the work area it tight and was hitting break pedal.

Also tried soaking some WD40 on a cotton ball, left it for an hour and still did not budge… suggestions?

I remember other's reporting that nut being on there super tight.

Is there enough thread on the stud to just put the bracket in place and add another nut?

What’s work?
Get a longer ratchet or if room allows use wrench on wrench as cheater(it’s OSHA approved….). See the ratchet and wrench you have there are short and provide little leverage.

I thought about this as a backup/if I get fed up with it.. but rather try getting it out and doing it correctly first. Will let you know if I end up going that route! 🤣

I found it necessary to use a long extension to get the ratchet handle out to where I had enough leverage, then it came off reasonably easy. There is enough male thread for another but but the small top of the factory locknut doesn't make for a very solid surface for the bracket.

FWIT... Go to the hardware store, get a wing nut - if forget the metric size and pitch and just install your pedal over the OEM nut .. Plenty of threads to do this.. I know.. I have run this way for 3 years.

I went through this same issue, installing that same “since 1941” dead pedal. You just need to crank the hell out of it. A longer handled ratchet will definitely help.

"Give me a lever and a place to stand, and I'll move the world."

man… I can get a longer handle but the angle/space really is limited and I put all the weight I could on it, I’m 210 6’3 so I can guarantee you I didn’t just slightly try and give up! lol.

it felt like either my wrist was gonna go or the wrench, but not the damn nut! 🤣

Sounds to be the best way for sure, didn’t want to at first but seems there’s enough threading to get it done

I used a long extension so your handle is out further allowing you to get more power into it. It came off relatively easy with an extension.

I own a medium size printing company.
Hit up your local small mechanic shop / tire shop and slip the guy a $20 to hit it and break it loose with his impact.
