Got the OK from the home manager to buy new rims. Method 315 Machined. I can get these rims in either spec. These will go on my Rubi. So it's a wide axle. Tires are 37/12.5-17. I have these tires on the oem Rubi rims with a 1.75" spacer. The poke with that is about perfect. So which ones would you guys pick?

17x8.5, 0 offset, 4.75" backspacing.
17x9, -12 offset, 4.5" backspacing.

The 37's on oem Rubi rims and 1.75" spacers.

I vote 8.5 with a 0 offset…. A 9 with -12 is 18mm additional poke.

8.5 et0 With fender extensions- extensions cover the tire by a hair.

this offset also tucks the tire at full flex JUST inside the

I would go with the narrowest rim that you could get away with, for any tire you might throw at it, effectively as a poor man’s bead lock. I don’t know of any performance reason to go with a wider rim than you need. Either way, we need you to provide some pics, or else it never happened. :)

I had 17x9's on my Power Wagon. Had 35's, then 37's on it. No beadlocks. That picture, the tires have 15 psi in them. I thought about beadlocks. For mostly street, I don't need them.

0 offset for sure. You want to keep as close to your OE scrub radius as possible to play nice with the Ball joints in the knuckle. It'll still poke a bit. I'm sitting about +19 offset and still have an inch of poke with my 37x12.5.

Method 701's, I had the same question for myself and went 17x9. I love it, but there's a bit of poke for sure. Couple pics for reference...

I want to make sure that I have enough clearance for when I stuff a tire into the fender well when off roading.

Beyond looks (poke vs no poke)

One practical concern that bit me with -12 (enough that I bought twice, cried twice) with Method 705s ... this will depend on steering upgrades.

No steering upgrades - no problems with -12

Upgraded Tie rod and drag link (rusty's aluminum) - tie rod ends slightly contacting the inner portion of the rim (essentially added a small chamfer to the inner portion of the rim) and was fine after a month even with full articulation off road ... could have added a small notch to the tie rod ends instead

Flipped drag link - no fixing this one. Full contact with the inner rim and drag link ... changed to 0 offset

I prefer the look of no poke, but I prioritized steering upgrades in the end.

Going to go with the 17x8.5, 0 offset, 4.75" BS. Getting 5 rims, 5 TPMS, lug nuts for 4 wheels from @Discount Tire. Thanks to Joe there.
