Two weeks ago I visited Denton Dodge for the final jeep wave oil change. I took it in, told them that I thought my jeep wave covered, they said no problem, I waited two hours for my truck back even though they said no appointment, then they charged me $80.

When I asked the boy at the counter why it wasn't covered he said it didn't show in the computer and they were too busy to look into it. Mind you, he didn't turn around and look me square in the face the entire conversation, and just wanted me out of his hair. He was very nervous and I felt for him, but he should have been nervous for good reason, according to what came next. I paid the $80 and walked away. I was out $80 and two hours of my time. I thought I was going to get my oil changed covered, they refused to check beforehand. They made a margin on an oil change. No big deal.

Guess I'm a stealership sucker once again.

I hopped in my jeep. Seat is stuck at 5'2 (I'm 6'1). Wouldn't budge. Okay no big deal. They couldn't have broken it right? No way. I'll fix it when I get home.

Nope, stuck. There was also some clunking going on. Something didn't seem right. I should check their work.

Oh, I found the clunker! The tech left his wrench in my engine bay, where it flew around for 30 minutes on a highway while I was going 70mph. Cool.

Called the dealership for a week straight, and they put me on hold each time. Okay. I need to talk to someone. Filed A BBB report.

Walter, the GM called me the next day to leave a VM. He said that he would fix the seat. Cool. I leave town tomorrow. He said he would expedite it. This is what I heard every other time as well. I have now wasted several hours of my time trying to get them to fix my seat and a simple apology from someone.

I call Walter. Walter calls back. We talk, I am frustrated. I want nothing but honesty and an explanation. He just wants to get me out of his hair. Not man enough to own up to his mistake and explain what the hell went wrong with this routine oil change. I want some assurance that there isn't some problem I will find and they will say its not their fault.

I am disappointed. I recommend you don't visit Denton Dodge for anything. I will never visit another Jeep stealership for service again, even if they say it will be "free."

Long story short, I am going to fix my seat myself and pray that they didn't do anything to damage my second most valuable asset. Really angry that I just bought a second Jeep (a grand cherokee L). Really disappointed. No wonder very few people respect Jeep nowadays.

So you had free changes and still pulled out the wallet when an ignorant and disinterested kid told you that you owed $80 ? There's your first issue ...

The seat (how bad can it be ?) That sucks though ...

The wrench ? Probably did nothing unless it got into the fan. Sounds like you now have a new wrench ... Hopefully its a snap on ... ...

But $80 ? And you didn't simply tell them to kiss your a$$ ? Probably better work on that can of whoop ass. Ya gotta help yourself ...

I don’t touch FCA dealership service departments unless it’s powertrain warranty work or electrical warranty work. Sucks that they screwed up on even what should of been a simple in and out oil change.

Years ago I'd have just had my wife bring me the second key and driven off.

But unfortunately replacing the key on a modern car would be much more than the $80 charge.

Yall are right. I was in a hurry, didn't expect to be there two hours when they said no appointment, and was already late for a meeting 30 minutes away. I was flustered and trying to live up to my commitments, unlike Walter.

Did I mention that Walter (GM) hung up on me when I finally got him on the phone and asked how they managed to screw up so royally?

I guess I come from a different time. I used to work for a dealership when I was paying my way through college.

I guess I just expect honesty from a business and from a man who runs a business. I expect integrity, and when someone makes a massive mistake, I expect them to take responsibility.

At this point, there is nothing that this dealership can do to help me. They have already proven completely incompetent and dishonest. A deadly combination.

My new aim is to ensure that other people don't suffer the same incompetence and dishonesty.

This is brilliant.

I always have the service sales person bring up my vehicle and see if I have any free service owed left on my vehicles, plus any recalls will show up at that time. Failing to get these things answered before I leave the vehicle is my fault for not getting answers in advance.

I'm not above taking the time out of my schedule, walking in the door and standing in the GM's office until they make good on a full refund of the money they charged for something they shouldn't have. Should take all of 15 minutes. Standing there with an invoice for my time they wasted punctuates the conversation. Let's say you bill out at $150 and hour and go from there.

That being said, if they don't refund you the money, dispute it on your credit card.

As far as the last bit goes, be sure to give them poor marks on their follow up surveys. That's usually the best way to get your point across. It screws up everyone's performance reviews and they don't want that.

I also want to point out that your reply here is grammatically incorrect.

I am a professor. I should multiply by the credit rate of each of my students in a given class. Gonna get expensive...

I thought about filing a civil suit because I was out of a vehicle for a week. During that week I was supposed to be making meetings to fundraise for my non-profit. I was able to take those meetings via video call, but they didn't go as well as I would have liked. Now you can see why I am so pissed about this @JeepCares

you can get your $80.00 back from Jeep. I did it a couple of years ago when my Jeep's ID eligibility got deleted by FCA somehow. We have a decent dealer so they worked with me and got me my money back. Forgot how we did it - sorry.
