9171 miles, CP4 failure stranded me, the wife, and two kids on a trail. Went in the shop 45 days ago, still waiting on parts.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have any other details? Any sketchy diesel pump fuel-ups? Did you ever check or drain water out of the fuel filter/separator?

Just curious, as maybe if we see a trend we can narrow down what the largest issue is that kills CP4's.

My CP4 failed at 4581 miles no fuel additives. Warranty replaced all components to fuel system. No DEF issues except def system inducement update. Since the fuel system replacement been using Hot Shots Secret every fill up even if it's at only half a tank. Absolutely no issues. 15k+ miles.

6000 miles with no issues but only one trip to Bountiful Utah to get my camper and drive I to the beach every Friday. I drive the 1994 F350 diesel for short trips. Just hit 100,000 miles last week on her.

Great data guys, I think if we get over 100 owner responses we can start to get into the ball-park of what the reality is.

Well I have two of them but can only vote once. They both have been trouble free. And no fuel additives .

15K miles. Only problem was the starter came unbolted and stopped engaging the flywheel. Had it towed to the closest dealer. They had it a couple of weeks and had a lot of trouble putting the starter back in. Not sure why, but they had to remove motor mounts and jack engine around. At one point, I went to see what was going on and there were four guys under it.

Did you have any issue in that cold of weather with the Diesel not getting up to temperature? Did you consider a radiator soft cover?
No problems with the temp of engine. I was honestly always more concerned about the DEF freezing as it is designed to do so at only 12* F, which we are under for months at a time in ND.

There was an issue with snow packing the area that the electrical wires/connections are for the DEF tank heater (in all fairness I was driving through a blizzard so there was plenty of snow on a 4 hour trip), and the software threatened to shut truck down in less than 200 miles. Firmware update has since rectified that, and no further issues rest of the winter.

I drive about 12-14 miles each way to work, and plenty warm after about 2-3 Max.
