I've notice that after I shut my Diesel Gladiator off there is a buzzing noise that lasts for several minutes.
My guess is that it is something to do with the turbo cool down?

I had the same buzzing noise, it should go away after +1000 miles on the clock. I have ~1500 miles on it and don't hear it anymore, not sure when it stopped.

Well then I've got about another 1000 miles. Thanks for your response
I won't worry about it.

That’s a serious problem if it stopped.
Take it to the dealer right away.

I do believe it is an electronic pump that circulates to cool down the turbo.

Over 5k miles and mine does it every time.

They were arguing on the wrangler forum on this one. A few said DEF line purge, but audible from rear of vehicle. Most said turbo cooling for 3 minutes.

I’ll spend more time googling, but I’ve just quickly read in ram forums it is purge of the def fluid lines.

Both hypotheses make sense and are plausible.

Bottom line, everyone’s diesel JT should make this sound at shut down.

This should be something the dealership tells you about on delivery ?

The only person at the dealership that will likely know is a mechanic, not the sales team.

Mine has the buzzing but is it intermittent and triggered on by a relay that I hear clicking in and out for more that a minute. I used to hear the DEF pump retract on my 2016 RAM, but this is different and the way it cycles leads me to believe it is turbo coolant related. Just my suspicion.

A buddy of mine is a diesel tech in Ohio. He has access to the Mopar service information. Here's his response about a coolant pump:

"It’s not in the wiring diagrams, and it’s not mentioned in the cooling system section of the manual."

A brief electric motor type noise from the rear of the vehicle is most likely the butterfly valve in the tailpipe cycling. The Gen 3 engine uses this to create backpressure for the new low-side EGR intake.

The longer lasting electric noise from the front of the vehicle appears to originate at the high pressure fuel injection pump. I can't imagine that the DEF system has ANY parts or pieces near the radiator. So I believe the CP.4 pump is the culprit. Although I still believe it could be possible that there is a pump that keeps coolant flowing for the turbo. I need to look into this further....
