I’ve been using iPhone Car Play with my Gladiator since I bought it in ‘21.

I’m considering switching from iPhone to a Motorola Razr. If it won’t work with my Gladiator, it’s a show stopper.

Does my 2021 Gladiator support both Car Play and Android Auto?

Thanks for any information.

I have a '21 with the 8.4" screen and use Android Auto.

There's still no cure for how buggy Android Auto is, it stops responding to touch and parts of the display will sometimes be blacked out, I just unplug the phone and plug it back in.

2023 android auto user here. I use a type c to type c cable into the dash and have had almost no problems. Only problem is if I stop and don't unplug the phone and restart it sometimes locks up and needs to be rebooted.

I'm using the USB-C plug on the dash and it's buggy AF. I don't think it's a Jeep problem, these are complaints about Android Auto across all automakers.

2020 with 7" screen - no problem using Android Auto. Had some glitches initially but they have become much less frequent. Not sure if I have changed my processes or if the AA app has been improved. Have not had my JT back to a dealer since I bought it in May '20 so I know it has not had a software update.

I have a 2020 with 7" screen and with bluetooth I can play music and things but to get google maps to work I need to plug in with usb cable. (my 2020 Harley is the same way though, can play pandora via bluetooth but need to plug in to get the maps working.) My revel camper van doesn't even show maps when plugged in most of the time, but as others have said....it's buggy.

2021 with the 8.4" radio here. Android Auto and Carplay both work fine, although it is not wireless. You can get a Motorola MA1 wireless Android Auto adapter if you want wireless, though.

Also, cabled AA can be glitchy if you have a low quality cable, as USB-C cables can vary wildly in capability. I have an SS10 compliant USB-A to USB-C cable that I use with radios that are sensitive to cable issues, and that seems to clear it up. The SS10 cables are a little thicker than the normal cable, though.

2021 JTR with 7 inch screen. USB cable out the center console. I tried wireless and was not a fan. Also, plugging it in keeps the phone charged on longer trips. No glitches or problems with android auto.

8,4 and used carplay for a year or so. Have switched to AA some month ago without any problems.

In my opinion AA works better than AC but that might be just a personal preference (don't like Apple).

I have a 2022 with the 8.4" screen, and I use Android Auto on every trip. I have only one time seen an issue (caused by a Garmin watch, I think). Otherwise, completely flawless for nav, calls, and entertainment.

I wonder how many people who report constant AA issues are using older or discount phones. I have never heard of someone with a Pixel or Galaxy having issues.

I have a 21, android auto works great.
In my previous phone it worked without issue plugged into the center console usb. Got a new phone and it was very buggy from that console port but worked fine in the media port, usb-c or usb-a

I didn't like the extra wires so I got a wireless dongle
AAWireless - Wireless Android Auto Dongle https://a.co/d/cERagNc

Which works with no issue out of the center console port! I also got a wireless charger phone mount so everything just works without me having to plug in or click buttons. Truck turned on, maps and music are just there. Simple. Need to charge, i just put it on the magsafe mount.

For anyone wondering, bluetooth doesn't have the speed or bandwidth to run android auto. Wireless AA uses your phones wifi connection.

The dongle i linked is great because it connects to your truck bluetooth to know when the head unit is on, to shut itself off when needed. Which is important as your phone will still try to connect if in range and the device doesn't shut off. I'm not sure if the Motorola one works the same but the AA wireless one got better reviews from what I saw. Very happy with it for about 10 months now.

I keep getting phone not supported when trying to use AA. My phone is a Samsung S21FE.

Tried good cables, dash and console USB ports, Nada.

My wife has the same phone, it has AA

Search android auto on your phone in settings check that it's active and updated. Might need to adjust the startup settings or something
