its been a couple years since buying tires. Last time was through Discount tire. bought the tires through them and had them mount and balance. Total did not seem to bad. somewhere around $1200 to $1600 I think.

This time I bought tires from Northridge 4x4 called up Discount tire and to dismount, mount and road force balance they quoted me $350 dollars total, plus disposal fee on each tire.

I was like what! Thank you, good bye.

I paid $200 to have my 37x13.5r17 mounted and road force balanced locally in 2023.

$350 is insanity

My local guy did 5 37's on bead locks for $75. Now I had to secure the lock rings but they dismounted the old 37's and brought me the tire and wheel. I did the lock rings and they then took the tire and balanced it and brought it back to the trailer. They also disposed of the 3 I wasn't keeping.

I do use this shop for all my tire needs so that might have played into this. I also flipped the guy who did the work a $20 on top of the $75.

I do suspect any of the major chains would have charged me $50 a tire IF they would even tough the bead locks.

Discount Tire will price match. I find it easier to get it all done at one place. If you have trouble, it gets fixed with no finger pointing.

I agree, I was going to get the tires from them so it is all done at the same place. Did not figure I would lose all my savings on mounting though.

Yeah I was going to see about price matching but that is on regular priced items, no special pricing matches. Something to that wording off the site.

Yeah- places around me are getting crazy too… $100 a tire to mount and balance a 37.
Decided after this set I’ll just pick up a used tire machine and do everything myself.

Roadforce balancing is cool…. But I’ll keep that to the go fast stuff>jeep.

Found my receipt from the last tire purchase, which was Discount tire. $22 a tire for installation and life of tire maintenance for total of $88. Now $350.

Got a local shop that will do it for $100 all 4 tires, but with spin balance maybe road force if the machine can handle the 38's.

The biggest problems I find with getting 'great' prices on products are the shipping costs and the expense of finding a local place to provide support for it.

Call them up. I got a set of baja boss 37s out the door for $1800. They couldn't/wouldn't match my price match at $100 less per wheel, but offered me the otd price. Good enough for me. I enjoy their service and it's worth the extra few bucks.

Costs have gone up over the last few years. I think they also charge more when you don't buy the complete package from them. I had four new tires put on factory wheels for $825 at Discount Tire last November. I traded the truck in February (unplanned) and now need new TPMS sensors to go with the wheels. Discount Tire quoted $60 per wheel for Sensor and Install, Sam's Club quoted $40 per wheel.

Goodyear charged me 280 to mount and balance 10 tires and I felt like I was getting robbed. Probably evens out considering the prices I got on my tires were 200-300 cheaper than anything in a 100 mile radius.

My local tire shop will charge you basically the same around $85 a tire for ones you bring in from elsewhere. Buy through them and it is half that if not more.

I just got four mounted and balanced at Discount Tire in Knoxville, Tennessee today. They were 315/70r17 on Mojave wheels. They did a great job. It was $22.00 a piece
