I understand you are a diesel tech working at a dealership.... but are you doing this at the dealership with a warranty supplied HPFP ? Reason I ask...Here we go….recall time!!!![]()
Only necessary and covered under warranty if contamination is found in the initial inspection.I don’t see all the parts there for a full fuel system replacement, but I do see some of the lines.
Curious did you do rails / injectors ?
Did the dealership order the part for you ? If so, mind providing your dealership/contact info ?same here. I got mine done today… in and out in a day. We’ll see how it is long term but as far as I’m concerned it was a super easy fix.
SameGot another letter in the mail and notification from my dealer about the recall only to be told the parts are on back order with no ETA.
I went to a dealership about 2 weeks ago for the pump recall to see if they had parts. They told me they didn't have it but would order me one even though there was no eta. My pump showed up a few days ago and I have an appointment for install in a couple days too.I understand you are a diesel tech working at a dealership.... but are you doing this at the dealership with a warranty supplied HPFP ? I've contacted several dealerships in my area and theyvall say they cannot get the HPFP. Yes it shows available, but non in stock to order and no ETA. These are reputable dealerships... how did you work around this ?
If dealership sponsored, would you mind providing me with the dealership/contact info ?
While mine has sat on a dealer lot for a while with metal in the filter, Jeep is authorizing their own employees to fix their own with no issues… I can’t even get jeep pony up enough to cover an AWD rental….nope just fulfilling my recall....30k miles and zero issues
I ordered my parts 5 min after the recall was released. I was the first person/customer on the list for my dealer. I have a great parts manager that I communicated with early on tracking the new pump and we ordered that number before the recall was live so we had 7 on the shelf day one. Only thing that we needed was the install kit (lines and seals)I understand you are a diesel tech working at a dealership.... but are you doing this at the dealership with a warranty supplied HPFP ? Jeep didn’t give me any special privileges. I’ve been working for a year to figure out what exactly the recall consisted of researching failing and using the resources I’d had in front of me. I ordered my pump install kit minutes after the recall went live. I was number one on our dealers first come first serve list. I actually was the one who told my service and parts manager the recall was live. While mine has sat on a dealer lot for a while with metal in the filter, Jeep is authorizing their own employees to fix their own with no issues… I can’t even get jeep pony up enough to cover an AWD rental….
No eta on their parts for the rest of us. This post specifically really irritates me….
All of the jeep dealers are doing this. Including fixing vehicles so they can sell them…Jeep didn’t give me any special privileges. I’m sorry your dealer isn’t the best. Not all dealers are created equal and that’s why I have people from all over the US come to see me at my dealer. I don’t eff around and work very hard for my customers
I work for a great dealer and in fact we have appointments every 7 days as parts come in for our customers. They wanted me to work on mine so it was as a guinea pig so I could be the expert on the recall because when the flood gates open next week (strike ending) I’m going to be installing everyone that come thru the door. You want experience working on your jeep or do you want some guy who gives two craps working on your jeep only to have issues down the road? All of the jeep dealers are doing this. Including fixing vehicles so they can sell them…
If you worked for a good dealer they would have had you fix a vehicle that was needing it, one that has failed, or was in process of failing…..
Special privileges is exactly what this is.
This is the business model that Jeep takes and it’s Effed….
You have to remember, he is a customer as well as an employee. He had to pay for his Jeep as well.Jeep spent months engineering a fix for these diesels.
Likely 50 or more were fixed and road tested by their engineers to ensure the pump was going to last.
Replacing a pump isn’t complex as you called out, and the recall documents are very specific.
Jeep continues to fix and sell vehicles vs fixing customer vehicles and allows employees priority access to parts during a strike.
You post is very clear about that…
My beef isn’t with you, it’s with your leadership, and the manufacturer.
I am glad you had the opportunity to fix your personal vehicle. It’s a nice job perk.
Creepy Jeepy, thats not cool man, since he is a diesel tech at a dealership, of course he has the opportunity to order the pump first out of the gate. I'm sure you have first dibs on things in your sector of business. All of the jeep dealers are doing this. Including fixing vehicles so they can sell them…
