So within the first 1500 miles my door hinges, especially on the back doors, are already riddled with chips in the paint. I put on some cheap plastic covers but am already sick of looking at those. I installed RB but now what do I do about my hinges? Touch up paint ain’t gonna cut it for my OCD azz, so any suggestions? Plastidip? Powder coat? Bed liner? Anyone have a solution?

I saw some anodized replacement hinges on eBay. No reviews though.

You're in for a never ending battle with the hinges, other than covering them up, touching them up, or replacing with black aftermarket ones. Touch up paint and maybe paint protection film? I just touch mine up. I'm vehicle OCD too, but I gave up on keeping jeep hinges perfect. It's the price we pay for protruding hinges. A good coat of wax helps too.

Or get mud flaps, or side steps, or narrower tires.

Got the mud flaps. Need to fix chips. No touch up paint!
The anodized ones come in a lot of colors. I don't think bedliner would hold up very well on the door hinges. It's got to at least be better than the black plastic covers.

Bring it to a good body shop and have them fix the paint on the hinges. Ask them about options for extra protection, like a rocker panel coating.

Watch some videos on Youtube on chip repair, there are ways you can fill in the chips with touch up paint where you will not be able to tell, just technique and patience.

There is a few places selling pre cut paint protection film for the hinge areas.

Not a whole lot available for JT yet that includes door mounts

I would not remove the hinges unless you plan on repainting the door, the doors are painted with the hinges on them effectively sealing the connection between the two.

Having dealt with this on my JKs, I recommend getting some touch-up paint (paintscratch.com is where I get mine) and repairing the chips. Once you repair them throw some of the clear protectant film over the hinges to help ward off any more chips.

Also, for anyone without any chips yet, just go ahead and do yourself a favor and put the film on now.
