I do remember that the part number she read off was a bunch of letters. Usually mopar part numbers are a bunch of numbers and then AA.

This is it from the TSP posted above:

CSGNZ966AA. My parts department ordered this. No idea what this is beyond the obvious that it’s a pump. I can’t find any reference to this part anywhere, so does that mean it’s new or is this a unique and different number because it’s a kitted part for the recall?

I’m tired of this Hardy Boys mystery bullshit.

From looking at the TBS. The pump looks like a CP4.

Hopefully down the road someone will tear it apart and do a side by side comparison.

And unless they can tell me this pump is different why would I want them to install this on my JT? I am fortunate to have a new vehicle with only 3300 miles and no problems as of yet. They need to tell us what has been changed with the pump to assure us that it won't fail from normal use.

My dealership told me they're getting one pump per 7 days. Aiming to have mine replaced mid December

It's really not that hard of a job. They remove the radiator fan, remove the pump, clock the new one, pop it on, put the radiator fan back on. They're only being quoted for 1.7 hours for the fix. If you're worried about them digging into a new Jeep I wouldn't be too concerned as it's not very involved.

While my dealership doesn't have the part in stock at the moment, this time they took my name and number and said they would give a call when they had the part in stock.

They, of course, mentioned that the strike "could" have an effect on availability. At least I'm in the queue now.

That's for just the pump replacement. But if you have a "contaminated" system. Then the quote is something like 6.5 hrs. And it's involved.

Here’s the issue I have with the language of the recall instructions, and this is the document my service writer showed me that they’re going by. They are following the direction that if the truck arrives in running condition, they only replace the pump. The do not perform the diagnostic work. I certainly don’t expect them to replace my fuel system needlessly, but I would like them to perform an inspection. My service department states to me that they will follow the letter of the remedy rev 0 document. I have my doubts that this fuel pump issue exists as a binary between failed and a dead truck and not failed and everything is fine. The fuel pump is likely to shed material before the system fails completely. I’d like them to check my system for contamination (listed in the remedy as “existing diagnostic procedure”). That’s a conversation I’m obviously going to have with my dealership.

I’m going to go ahead and have them do a fuel filter replacement and an oil change when they do the pump and see if the tech can check the system when they’re doing that maybe under those auspices.

There’s an outstanding question that remains. What are the changes to this replacement that looks like a CP4.2 but has a new part number? I don’t even see the language they were previously using about a “hardened” replacement pump. I’m not sure why even a general description of this isn’t provided by Stellantis. It’s more of the same behavior, like the poor comms that only sows distrust even if it’s not warranted. I can only assume that it can’t be the same otherwise it wouldn’t satisfy NHTSA. However having worked for years in a world we’re complex engineering problems were frequently solved with kluges (and that was nuclear powered warships, aircraft and weapon systems), I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with the cheapest solution to a fundamentally flawed design. Maybe that will be a good enough solution long term. It also might be shifting the eventual failures to the right while introducing an unproven design change. I’d love to know what’s been going on at Bosch for the last year to arrive at the current solution.

I also notice that the repair has them adding a B5 sticker to the fuel door. The truck was already compatible with B5 according to the owners manual.

Another data point: 2023 JT Sport S.

Called the dealership yesterday, set an appointment for a few weeks from now for an inspection. They don't currently have the necessary parts available so they are going to pull the pump and inspect it AND the fuel system. Then will order the appropriate parts and schedule installation as soon as they get parts. They're providing a loaner vehicle for both appointments.

This may not be precisely to the bulletin instructions, but they were up front about the process AND the lack of parts availability so I'm happy.

The dealership or even Stellantis Corporate really does not have a impetus to explain anything to anybody on the how, what and why of the whole thing. They are offering the recall fix as stated and probably really could care less if you take them up on the offer.

The only saving grace is the recall will probably stay active for quite some time so it will either be there should you need it if you have a failure or for any subsequent owner of your vehicle.

I wonder - and maybe you have some insight.......
A person visits a dealership for some other service or work of any type. They plug in, and up pops the unresolved recall with this VIN. You say no thanks.
6 months later it fails and causes some other issues and you want Jeep to pay for the problem beyond the pump.
If I was Jeep, and I saw on a prior work order "customer declined" - does that matter?
Yeah, if they tell you there is a recall or a RTT or something similar like a PCM flash or whatever, and you decline, it's recorded that you declined the repair.
