Y’all know you can turn the radio OFF before shutting the truck off right? And if you do that it won’t auto-turn on when you start?

In fact, with these fancy do-it-all radios I recommend turning it off as, in my opinion, shutting it off with the ignition is kind of like force shutting down a computer.

Mine’s a ‘23, so the OP should be able to do the same…

I'll concede your point. I'll also say that I don't have an android phone. I'll also concede that I don't have to rush out of the house to respond to emergencies.

BUT...I can do the same thing you described with Siri on my iPhone and CarPlay
Like I said in the part that you didn't quote was I also use Android Auto. When I get it going, it works quite well as I'm sure Carplay does too. My issue with it (and Carplay as implemented in UConnect) is you have to plug the phone in and in my case (and as you acknowledged), that extra step is not happening if I'm responding to a fire call from home.

I was answering the question asked that was Who still uses the Factory Nav? And my answer was I do.

Some people just like to use the built in Nav, some people don't. Whatever you use is all fine and good if it works for you. The Factory Nav app isn't all that bad. If one is willing to pay for the updates, it's as good as most other Nav apps. It's big disadvantage is the infrequent updates and the cost of them.

IF I remember to. And when I turn it back on, it defaults to... radio! But if it simply remembered the last state it was in, like every other BT enabled car stereo I've used over the last 20 years, that would be an even better solution.

Back around 1961, when I was 14,
I learned to drive my grandfather's 1956 VW Beetle.
It had a speedometer with all the instrumentation
contained within its face.
The odometer only went to 99,999 miles,
then it rolled over.
The turn signal indicator pointed both ways.
A blue dot lit up for a high beam indicator.

There were no other instruments.
No temp gauge, it was air cooled,
including the interior. No AC.
No tachometer. That is what ears are for.
No oil pressure gauge and no fuel gauge.
There was a lever to flip over to the reserve tank
whenever the engine began to sputter.
You only forgot to flip it back once.

Somehow, I miss the simplicity.

Overall, I really like my new ride (2023 base Sport), but some of the electronics... not so much. Most I guess I gotta live with, but maybe some can be fixed?
  • That annoying warning that pops up on the touchscreen ("avoid distracted driving", etc.) that pops up on the touchscreen every time you start. There's an "accept" button, but it doesn't seem to do anything, and you can't do anything else on the touchscreen until it goes away....
  • ... like turn off the radio, which starts up with a blast of static or annoying radio station until the bluetooth connects. And no way to prevent the radio from turning on when the vehicle is started.
  • No media information is displayed if using bluetooth without the usb cable connected for android auto. Other vehicles display this, why not Jeep?
  • The touchscreen map going into night mode when the lights are on, even in the daytime. I know I can change that setting, but then it doesn't go into night mode, ever. My phone switches it at sunrise and sunset (or when entering a tunnel!) which makes a lot more sense.
  • If you accidentally shut off the car without shifting into park first, it goes to ACC, with no way to get out of that mode without starting the engine again and restopping (in park, this time). Stupid. Seems switching from D to park when in ACC mode should cause it to go to OFF.
  • Honking the horn if you take the fob out of the car with the engine running. Really annoying when I get out of the car to unlock the gate with the fob in my pocket. Yes, I get why they do it, but a chime or single chirp would be less annoying. I know I can just leave the door slightly open, but that's not the best solution if it's raining.
  • ESS. Enough said.
  • Glare from the license plate lights affecting the backup camera. I know this can be fixed with a relay and some wiring, either homebrew or purchased, but it's something Jeep should have thought of.
  • Similarly, the backup camera should be disabled when the tailgate is open, or in the halfway position for hauling lumber... it's useless then and just distracting.
  • The compass only displaying 8 points (N, NE, E, SE, etc.) instead of degrees. Granted that numbers would confuse 90% of the drivers out there...
  • The tiny time display, that moves depending on whether the touchscreen is showing uconnect or android auto.
There are probably some others I'm missing, but that's enough of a rant for now.
There are many others too. You are not wrong in any of the annoying things with Jeep electronics. I have had all same experiences and more.
1. autopark what is that about. got it…. we say someone was killed doing something but why does only Jeep have this annoying feature. JL Taser gets rid of it but why can’t Jeep offer an on/off
2. radio volume goes up when I shut jeep off
3. blue tooth disconnects after 30 minutes or so and I need to reconnect it
4. Why does it not connect back to my phone for music when I return back to Jeep. Does not remember last setting
5. auto stop feature does not work unless seatbelt connect which seems like an odd feature

i can go on and yes these are annoying and unique to Jeep. I also have 2 fords and a Chevy. none of these vehicles have these issues. Not sure why people here are defending Jeep on these issues. These things are real and yes they are annoying. I like my Jeep for what it is but it is not without it flaws

I've never had it honk when I leave with the FOB? Maybe it's a setting?
Me either. Would be nice actually because I’ve left the engine running…..because Incouldnt hear it.
