My 4 week old 2020 (8 speed auto), when driving slow (18-15 mph), and not accelerating, feels like it is misfiring, yet is it not throwing any codes. I don't think it is the transmission, it does this when I put it in manual and use 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear.

I had it to the dealer and they said it is normal. I test drove another one and drove a friends and they did not do this. I have another appointment at a different dealer location (same dealer owner they have two dealerships fairly close).

Has anyone experienced this?

Did you test drive it with the technician?

no, I dropped it off and figured they would be smart enough and honest enough to see what is painfully obvious. I picked it up at closing time and nobody was around to discuss.

Jeep Owner: My Jeep is doing (insert any problem).
Stealership Consultant: That is normal.
Jeep Owner: Are you sure? It doesn’t seem normal.
Stealership Consultant: It’s a Jeep thing.

I used to have a PT cruiser that would do this all the time. I eventually found out it was the camshaft position sensor.

I had to replace that darn thing about 10 times while i had that car. Since this is a Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler thing, perhaps start there. I think the part was only $30 or so.

My 6 speed manual with 7K miles on it now feels like it does the same and has been doing so since the start. Not all the time, just frequently enough that I notice it. It makes me wonder if the computer is off doing some other task and not prioritizing fuel injection or spark timing. Like employees these days, I figure, the computers running our jeeps are being stretched thin and are doing multiple roles and jobs in the interest of cost savings, so some tasks don't get the attention they need. I admit this is all just speculation and conspiracy theory and could have nothing to do with it.

For my uses this rig is still the best and most fun I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot), despite some quirks. If I feel what feels like a misfire, it's a quick blip and it's gone and I just move on. If the motor was surging and bucking, yeah, that would be different.

When mine is doing it, at speeds from about 18-36 on level roads not accelerating, it constantly feels like it is confused.

I think you might be feeling the transmission ... IMO the 8 spd tranny under little load tends to search a bit ... it likes a little RPM to smoothly run from gear to gear.

I put it in manual mode (I used 2nd, 3rd and 4th) and it does the same thing

Update

As predicted they found nothing. I have no idea how anyone cannot notice this thing shuddering down the road. Did they not listen? Levelish ground, not accelerating or decelerating?

A couple of more trips in and I will qualify for the Lemon Law. I know it will cost me a few hundred but I will not have this broken vehicle.

Hi Kathryn - thank you for the offer of support, but please don't misunderstand my post. That was an observation, not a rant. I knew what to expect from the 3.6L V6 Pentastar going into it (the new transmission gearing and clutch feel were a surprise and weren't quite as good as those in the JK, n my opinion) but the Gladiator is, by far, for my needs, the best rig for my needs. If there are quirks, I adapt, and so far it's worked out very well. I love this rig.

Update 2
I think we made progress. I talked directly to the mechanic/tech. He drove it, he felt it he explained that the engine and transmission don't always agree with what should be going on and I am getting this worse than other vehicles. He reprogrammed the transmission and I have noticed a huge improvement. Why couldn't they have done this the first time?
